Description
Hikozaru is a Chimchar Pokémon with a bipedal, chimpanzee-like form. Its fur is primarily orange, featuring light yellow on the face, outer ears, underbelly, hands, and feet. Distinctive traits include large ears with red insides, red markings encircling its eyes, two pointed upper teeth, a swirl-like symbol on its chest, and a swirly crest of hair on its head. Flames generated from burning gas emerge from its rear; these flames resist rain but extinguish during sleep or illness. Historically, this flame caused mistaken sightings of a "Lantern-Tail" apparition. Hikozaru exhibits notable agility, scaling the rocky ledges of tall mountains, and has been observed inhabiting the Terarium at Blueberry Academy.

Within the narrative of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Toki to Yami o Meguru Saigo no Bōken, Hikozaru encounters a Piplup, formerly a human who has lost memories of its past life and transformation. Hikozaru suggests seeking answers from the Pukurin Guild, led by Guildmaster Pukurin. Despite initial intimidation by the guild's environment and the strength of its members, Hikozaru overcomes this hesitation to advocate for Piplup's inclusion. Guildmaster Pukurin forms the two into the exploration team "Pokédans," co-founded by Hikozaru and Piplup.

The Pokédans team's first mission requires retrieving a Gabite Scale from Labyrinth Cave to aid a sick Shinx. Hikozaru undertakes this expedition alongside Piplup and a Kimawari (Sunflora), demonstrating its willingness to engage in challenging tasks for others' benefit.

Hikozaru's role expands significantly as the team partners with a Grovyle for a critical quest to the Lost Continent. Their objective involves locating and securing the "Time Gears," artifacts essential for preventing global temporal collapse. This journey positions Hikozaru as part of a collaborative effort to save the Pokémon world from impending disaster.
