TV-Series
Description
Memoru hails from the planet Riruru, stranded on Earth after a spaceship malfunction forced a crash landing with 244 fellow inhabitants. With her parents remaining on their homeworld, her grandfather raised her within the newly established Riruru village hidden in a forest near human dwellings.

Palm-sized to humans, she is always recognizable by her distinctive pointed red hat and red shoes, traits reflected in her original Japanese name. Her personality blends adventurous curiosity with emotional sensitivity. Despite her people's wariness of humans due to size disparities, Memoru actively explores the surrounding world. This boldness leads her to discover Mariel, a human girl confined indoors by chronic illness. A pivotal moment occurs when Memoru's tear falls onto Mariel's lips, triggering an unexplained recovery and forging a profound, life-sustaining bond between them.

Described as a "tomboy" and "Cheerful Child," Memoru exhibits spirited independence alongside deep loyalty. She frequently initiates exploratory missions beyond the village, often using her owl companion Bo-bo for transport, summoned by her magical bubble umbrella. She also communicates with woodland creatures, underscoring her connection to nature. Yet, this adventurousness coexists with homesickness and vulnerability, stemming from separation from her parents. Her deep emotional dependence on Mariel is mutual, forming a core part of her growth.

Key relationships shape her life. Her closest peer among the Riruru is Popit, sharing a supportive yet sometimes contentious friendship. Interactions with the enigmatic elder Ryukkuman offer occasional guidance. Her bond with Mariel remains central, evolving from secret companionship to a deep, interdependent friendship where each girl acts as the other's emotional anchor. This connection cautiously extends to Mariel's human friends, Oscar and Grace, after initial conflicts.

Memoru's fortitude is tested repeatedly. She navigates challenges like preserving the Riruru villagers' secrecy from hostile humans such as the strict housekeeper Penelope. Her protective instincts toward Mariel intensify, especially during Mariel's clashes with Grace or health declines. A defining choice comes near the series' end: when the Riruru villagers prepare to return home and Mariel suffers a critical relapse, Memoru elects to stay on Earth indefinitely with a small group of close friends, ensuring Mariel's survival and prioritizing their bond over returning to her planet.

The OVA *Marielle no Hōsekibako* reinforces Memoru's deep connection to Mariel, framing their shared adventures as cherished memories recounted by Mariel and cementing Memoru's role as a pivotal, life-affirming presence.
