Description
Mephisto navigates a complex arc between antagonism and redemption. He initially reigned as King of Major Land with Queen Aphrodite, fathering their daughter Ako Shirabe. During Major Land's "Melody of Happiness" ceremony, he succumbed to "the noise of evil" from Noise, becoming brainwashed and adversarial. Corrupted, he allied with Siren and the Trio de Minor to convert the "Melody of Happiness" into the "Melody of Sorrow," aiming to spread sorrow across worlds. His demeanor during this phase combined comical ineptitude with bullying tendencies, lacking genuine menace. His powers included creating Negatones by infusing objects with corrupted musical notes and controlling others via "the noise of evil," though Noise manipulated him as a pawn.

Ako, as Cure Muse, shattered Noise's control over him, restoring his true identity and memories. Purified, he reverted to his devoted family role, though his overzealous affection frequently embarrassed Ako. His personality shifted to a clumsy yet deeply loving family man, contrasting his prior villainy. Post-purification, he retained music-based abilities like summoning vibrant piano keys resembling Cure Muse's powers.

In *Torimodose! Kokoro ga Tsunagu Kiseki no Melody*, Mephisto accompanied Ako to Major Land after reports of Queen Aphrodite erasing music and petrifying citizens. A comedic misunderstanding during his attempt to visit Souta (Kanade’s brother) in the human world led to police involvement. In Major Land, he separated from the Pretty Cure team to investigate the castle with Ako. When Howling-possessed Aphrodite trapped Ako in an energy bubble, Mephisto struggled to recall her favorite song. Their shared singing shattered the bubble, reaffirming their bond. Later, as Howling threatened Aphrodite, Mephisto appeared poised to strike her with a sword but severed the dark roots binding her instead, rescuing her and demonstrating familial loyalty. He supported Pretty Cure against Howling, helping restore Major Land’s music and joy. Ultimately, he honored Ako’s wish to stay in the human world with her friends, cementing his supportive fatherhood.

His name echoes the mythological Mephistopheles, aligning with his brainwashed role as a collector of corrupted souls—a stark contrast to his post-redemption nature as a benevolent ruler and family-focused figure.
