Description
Foo Fighters, known as F.F., is a sentient plankton colony unified by its namesake Stand. Brought to life when Enrico Pucci implanted a Stand DISC into oceanic plankton, F.F. first acted as a guardian for Pucci’s hidden Stand DISC cache near Green Dolphin Street Prison. It attacked intruders with ruthless precision, deploying sub-bodies and water-based assaults. A battle with Jolyne Cujoh and Ermes Costello left F.F. near death from dehydration, but Jolyne’s decision to revive it with water sparked a crisis of purpose. F.F. abandoned Pucci, adopting the identity of a deceased inmate, Atroe, to infiltrate the prison and shield its new allies.

F.F.’s malleable physiology enables it to reshape into humanoid forms or slip through narrow spaces. Extended use of Atroe’s corpse fused its original robotic, alien-like traits with human features, marked by a jagged, cap-like structure on its head. Survival depends on constant hydration: it carries a 32 oz. water cup and can extract moisture from fluids like blood. Dehydration triggers rapid deterioration, forcing F.F. to prioritize water sources.

Initially single-minded in obeying Pucci, F.F. grows introspective after allying with Jolyne. It cites astronomer Fred Hoyle’s theories to debate the origins of sentience, claiming intelligence predates the universe. This curiosity evolves into fierce loyalty, culminating in self-sacrifice—using its plankton to heal Anasui’s fatal injuries, despite the cost to its own life. In its final moments, F.F. accepts its identity as a confirmed “spirit,” content with having forged meaningful bonds.

Combat abilities include splitting into autonomous sub-units, regenerating from surviving plankton, and hijacking corpses to access memories or disguise itself. It weaponizes plankton as projectiles, seals wounds by flooding them with microorganisms, and manipulates water into tools like reflective surfaces. Arid environments severely weaken these skills, leaving F.F. vulnerable.

F.F. aids Jolyne in retrieving Stand DISCs, battles adversaries like Miraschon and Sports Maxx, and directly confronts Pucci. During the clash with Pucci’s Whitesnake, F.F. expends its remaining plankton to save Anasui and Jotaro Kujo, cementing its transformation from manipulated weapon to autonomous ally. Its final spectral apparition reaffirms its sentience and the legacy of its choices.
