Description
Fred, a human character within the Transformers Armada storyline, attends Lincoln Middle School as the best friend of Billy, a would-be bully. Unlike Billy, Fred lacks motivation for harassing peers like Rad and Carlos, preferring to snack constantly and frequently voicing his persistent hunger. This defining trait of insatiable snacking recurs throughout his arc. Dialogue implies Fred may have Diabetes mellitus type 1, as he references low blood sugar after physical exertion like running.

Fred and Billy trail Rad and Carlos into subterranean caves beneath a local observatory, aiming to uncover their activities and possibly intimidate them. When Rad triggers a mechanism underground, an earthquake nearly buries Fred and Billy alive. Emerging from rubble, they discover colossal body-shaped depressions and footprints—their first indirect encounter with Transformers.

Later, Fred and Billy learn of Rad and Carlos’s involvement with the Transformers. After being rescued by the Autobots, Hot Shot compels them to swear secrecy. During another attempt to menace Rad and Carlos, Decepticons capture Fred and Billy, imprisoning them in a ghost town for malicious purposes. While captive, Fred offers potato chips to the Decepticon Mini-Con Leader-1, seemingly forging a bond. This act proves crucial when the Autobots’ rescue falters; Leader-1’s refusal to harm the humans ensures their escape. Subsequently, Fred and Billy ally with the Autobots, joining their adventures.

Despite Mini-Cons lacking the ability to consume food, Fred habitually shares snacks with them. Production notes reveal the Armada creators initially planned to write out Fred and Billy but retained them unintentionally. Post-Armada, it was humorously suggested they partied in France. Fred reappears minimally in the sequel Cybertron as the third astronaut aboard an Autobot spacecraft in "Beginning," extending his narrative presence.

His character operates beyond seeking approval, providing comic relief through food-centric antics and relentless hunger. Fred’s voice resembles Eddy from Ed, Edd n Eddy.
