Description
Bachō Mouki, also called Sui, hails from Ryoushuu. Her father Batou governed there until Sousou's invasion forced Batou's suicide and the territory's loss. Homeless and consumed by vengeance against Sousou for her father's death, she initially joined Kazuto's army solely for revenge. Her emotional state later improved, leading to personal reconciliation and eventual forgiveness of Sousou.
Her personality mixes tomboyish speech and mannerisms with a straightforward, easily flustered nature. She shows significant sensitivity concerning love and her perceived lack of feminine appeal, reacting with intense embarrassment or stuttering when teased or faced with perverted situations. This sometimes manifests as tsundere behavior, including calling Kazuto "baka" while hitting him. Though she acknowledges her limitations in intelligence and foresight, she displays fierce loyalty to friends and duties, preferring physical solutions to mental strategizing.
In combat, she wields a jumonji yari (cross spear) with exceptional skill, honed since childhood. Her physical capabilities—strength, speed, reflexes, and stamina—surpass ordinary soldiers, enabling her to contend with powerful fighters like Chouhi. She possesses leadership skills, especially in commanding cavalry forces, and excels in horsemanship, reflecting her family's link to Ryoushuu's famed cavalry. She owns three horses: Ouhou, Shien, and Kirin. In the anime, she can assess opponents' strength and honesty by reading their auras. Weaknesses include impulsiveness, jumping to conclusions without analysis, occasional stubbornness, and a mild case of urinary incontinence.
Her background involves rigorous martial training from her family's style: bunnyhopping with weights, inverted situps while hanging from trees, hand-walking near volcanoes, and deflecting arrows. She is one of four characters noted for a large appetite. Across games and anime narratives, she forms a close friendship with Chouhi and participates in key conflicts like the anti-Toutaku war. Her character design features thicker eyebrows in later visual novels, a headband during combat in original media, and a short skirt that contrasts with her tomboy persona, contributing to a gap-moe aesthetic.
