Description
Terry The Kid, son of Texan justice choujin Terryman and Japanese reporter Natsuko Shōno, possesses a half-Japanese, half-American heritage that brought him distress in youth. He grew up resenting his father's perceived secondary status to Suguru Muscle (Kinnikuman), believing Suguru stole Terryman's fame and glory. This resentment extended to Suguru's son, Mantaro Kinniku, whom Terry initially viewed with hostility and rivalry, determined to surpass the Muscle family and prove the Terry lineage's superiority. His relationship with his father was strained by Terryman's strict training, including a brutal death-match against Volcano, son of Terryman's old rival The Mountain. During this fight, Terry discovered a four-leaf clover under a stump, inspiring his signature Texas Clover Hold technique to secure his first victory and earn Terryman's pride.

Initially positioned as an antagonist to Mantaro in the Hercules Factory arc, Terry ranked #3 among New Generation graduates and defended Osaka, openly expressing his grudge. His perspective shifted during a critical match against the d.M.p's Anaconda when Suguru Muscle intervened. Suguru revealed the deep friendship between himself and Terryman, symbolized by Terryman's handkerchief he always carried, explaining Terryman valued friendship over personal accolades. This revelation prompted Terry to reconcile with Mantaro, marking the start of their friendship. Terry demonstrated newfound loyalty by assisting Mantaro against Anaconda, spitting peanuts to create openings. He later graduated by defeating Buffaloman in a challenge atop a stone palm.

Despite this growth, Terry battled recurring identity issues, often rejecting comparisons to his father and the Terry family's practical, hold-based wrestling style in favor of flashier techniques and personal glory. This conflict led to periods of laziness, like neglecting duties post-d.M.p arc, forcing the Hercules Factory to hold a replacement tournament where he lost early to Scarface. His role diminished in later arcs, featuring reduced screen time and supportive appearances, such as sacrificing his own match during the Chojin Olympics to save a drowning child—an act mirroring Terryman's past heroism. Terry faced repeated cycles of forgetting and relearning his heritage's value, evident when younger versions of Terryman and Robin Mask counseled him in the Ultimate Choujin Tag Tournament arc to embrace his unique identity rather than resist his legacy.

Terry's fighting style emphasizes technical wrestling and submission holds over raw power, reflecting Terry family tradition. Key techniques include the inherited Texas Clover Hold, the Spinning Toe Hold, and power moves like the High Voltage Bomb (a kneeling belly-to-belly piledriver) and the 1,000,000 Million Dollar Kick, which often require momentum. His strategic approach inflicts critical damage despite lacking overwhelming strength. In the video game *Kinnikuman Muscle Grand Prix 2*, gameplay mechanics highlight his reliance on practical infinites and corner-based combos, reinforcing technical precision over flashy finishers. His moveset includes signature strikes like the Wild Horse series (e.g., Wild Horse Front Kick) and the Raging Bull Horn.

Relationships define key aspects of Terry. His bond with Mantaro evolved from bitter rivalry to steadfast friendship, though they frequently argued; Mantaro aided him during pivotal matches like against Rex King. Terry shared a close dynamic with Jade, son of Brocken Jr., and occasionally partnered with Robin Mask. His interactions with his father remained complex, blending lingering resentment with underlying affection and mutual support, particularly in later arcs demonstrating their solidarity during joint battles.
