Description
Originating as a colony of plankton near Green Dolphin Street Prison, Foo Fighters (F.F.) gained sentience and a unified consciousness after Enrico Pucci's Stand, Whitesnake, inserted a Stand DISC into the colony. Pucci tasked F.F. with guarding a cache of Stand DISCs hidden in a remote warehouse, where it acted as a ruthless protector, eliminating any intruders without question. This initial existence lacked individuality, driven purely by self-preservation and obedience. F.F. held intellect as a fundamental cosmic force, invoking astronomer Fred Hoyle's theories to argue that microscopic life could possess consciousness predating the universe.

Physically, F.F. manifests in multiple forms. Its primary Stand form appears as a tall, dark, robotic humanoid with masculine proportions and an insectoid or reptilian visage, visible to non-Stand users. This form possesses no conventional weaknesses due to its colony nature and requires constant hydration, often seen carrying a 32 oz. cup of water. To navigate human society, F.F. later inhabited the corpse of a deceased prisoner named Atroe, adopting her appearance—a woman of average height, slim build, and distinctive serrated-edge cap/hair. Influenced by experiences with Jolyne Cujoh, F.F.'s Stand form gradually evolved to incorporate more human-like features resembling Atroe while retaining original traits. The plankton composition allows extreme bodily contortions for moving through barred fences or tight spaces.

F.F.'s personality underwent significant change. Defined initially by blind loyalty to Pucci and devoid of empathy, it killed guards and prisoners indiscriminately. After being defeated and dehydrated near death by Jolyne Cujoh and Ermes Costello, Jolyne spared F.F. by offering water. This act profoundly shifted F.F.'s perspective. Grateful and inspired by Jolyne's compassion, F.F. allied with her, marking the start of its individuality. It became intensely curious about the world, constantly experimenting with human behavior—deliberately acting contrary to Atroe's memories—and questioning to understand social norms. A deep loyalty formed toward Jolyne, who symbolized freedom and intellectual validation. F.F. also developed an obsession with water due to its biological dependency, drinking any liquid containing water—including blood or spit—without hesitation. Ultimately, accumulated positive memories with Jolyne and their allies led F.F. to value their safety above its own, culminating in self-sacrifice.

F.F.'s unique nature as both Stand and Stand user grants its abilities. Its colony physiology allows splitting into sub-bodies for multitasking or stealth, rapid regeneration from minimal surviving plankton with water access, and resilience against conventional physical attacks; however, dehydration causes immediate disintegration. F.F. can infiltrate and control corpses, notably Atroe's, accessing their memories to maintain disguises indefinitely. This inhabitation reduces hydration dependency but limits colony dispersal and creates vulnerability to host-body blood loss. In human form, F.F. developed combat techniques like the F.F. Shot, firing plankton bullets that pierce skin or invade bodies, and the Plankton Seal, using plankton to plug wounds or regenerate damaged tissues like eyes. It also manipulates plankton for utility, such as forming floating mirrors from water.

F.F.'s narrative includes key events: After joining Jolyne, it aided in recovering Jotaro Kujo's Stand DISC and infiltrated the prison disguised as "Atroe." It participated in battles against adversaries like Miraschon (wielding the debt-collecting Stand Marilyn Manson) and Sports Maxx (whose Stand, Limp Bizkit, creates invisible zombies), healing Ermes's near-fatal injuries during the latter conflict. Later, it protected Jolyne from Kenzou and his Stand Dragon's Dream, and reluctantly accompanied Anasui as he sought Jolyne for marriage. Tricked by Pucci into leading allies into an ambush, F.F. was critically wounded by Whitesnake. In its final act, it used its plankton to seal Anasui's wounds, saving him and indirectly saving Jotaro, draining its remaining life force. In death, F.F.'s spirit briefly appeared to Jolyne, expressing joy at confirming its sentience through the existence of a soul, affirming it truly lived.
