Description
Terryman, an American Justice Chojin from Amarillo, Texas, began as a mercenary superhero demanding payment. His early arrogance led him to dismiss others, especially Kinnikuman, whom he deemed incompetent. This changed when Kinnikuman selflessly aided a child Terryman refused to help without pay. Witnessing this act inspired Terryman to embrace fighting for justice, forging an unshakeable friendship with Kinnikuman. They became the tag team "The Machineguns."

Muscular and standing 190 cm tall at 95 kg, Terryman bears the kanji "米" (Bei) on his forehead for America and Star Emblems on his shoulders symbolizing fighting spirit. Originally depicted with white hair and a red outfit (boots, knee bands, shorts, gloves), later anime adaptations gave him blonde hair and blue colors. He lost his left leg taking a sniper bullet meant for Kinnikuman during the 20th Chojin Olympics. This required a functional but easily removable prosthetic, later upgraded first by Backlund, then by a guilt-ridden Kinkotsuman after Backlund's death, creating a sturdier, advanced model. Prosthetic damage sometimes hindered his combat.

His core relationships define key narratives. His bond with Kinnikuman features deep mutual trust and frequent collaboration, surviving occasional conflicts like a temporary split during the Dream Tag Tournament. They later reconciled, partnering as "Kinnikuman Great." His romance with Natsuko Shono started early, marked by her possessiveness and his occasional duty prioritization (e.g., striking her unconscious to enter a match). They married, settled on a Texas ranch, and had a son, Terry the Kid, maintaining unconventional domestic arrangements like separate beds. His relationship with Terry the Kid grew strained due to Terryman's rigorous training, including forcing him into a deathmatch against Volcano, fostering resentment and a drive to surpass his father. Later interactions showed moments of support and affection.

Terryman employs a practical fighting style inspired by wrestler Terry Funk, favoring signature holds like the Spinning Toe Hold, Texas Clover Hold, and Calf Branding. His combat prowess surges with "Burning Inner Strength," amplifying his physical capabilities in critical moments. Extrasensory abilities include detecting danger through snapping shoelaces—an omen of threats to friends—and analytical skills to decipher opponents' techniques mid-battle, often prefaced by "Come to think of it, I've heard of this..." His strategic acumen proved vital, like countering Justiceman's vast experience.

Key arcs highlight his development. During the 21st Chojin Olympics preliminaries, he sacrificed victory to save a puppy from a bullet train, echoing his leg sacrifice. In the Seven Devil Chojin arc, he defeated The Mountain with a Brain Buster, driven by snapping shoelaces signaling his allies' defeats. Twenty-nine years before the Nisei timeline, he challenged Kinnikuman to a personal match. This was aborted when Natsuko suffered a life-threatening car accident, prompting Terryman to prioritize her care; the match was later declared a draw. In Kinnikuman Nisei, retired and mentoring, he initially distrusted the New Generation Chojin, especially after an incident involving Mantaro Kinniku and Robin Mask's wife, but eventually accepted their potential, advising Terry the Kid during his tag team endeavors with Robin Mask as "The Adrenalines."

Post-retirement, Terryman lives on his Texas ranch with Natsuko and Terry the Kid. His legacy continues through his son, who inherited techniques like the Texas Clover Hold (modified as the Voltage Bomb), reflecting Terryman's influence on Terry the Kid's fighting style and values despite their conflicts.
