Description
Nachiguron is a timid, easily frightened kaiju who first emerges as an apparent menace in a city, prompting the Japanese Prime Minister to summon Kinnikuman. Confronted by Kinnikuman, Nachiguron displays extreme fear and begins crying, revealing his harmlessness. Kinnikuman takes pity, abandoning the extermination to guide him back to his homeland. This leaves Nachiguron lamenting his status as a "loser" kaiju.
Afterward, Nachiguron physically transforms, shrinking from 60 meters tall to roughly one meter and growing shaggy blond hair where he was once bald. Seeking refuge, he moves into Kinniku House in Beverly Park, requesting to live with Kinnikuman and Alexandria Meat. Meat initially objects due to caring for Kinnikuman but relents on the condition Nachiguron can take care of himself. For safety during errands, Meat provides him with a special whistle to signal trouble.
Running errands, Nachiguron faces harassment from the Kaiju Yakuza for aligning with Kinnikuman. Despite imminent danger and nearly using the whistle, he chooses to confront the situation alone. This act of self-reliance proves his determination to overcome cowardice, earning Meat's acceptance. Nachiguron integrates into the household by performing chores like cooking, demonstrating his commitment to abandon his destructive past and embrace protecting humans.
Subsequently, Nachiguron appears sporadically as a supportive figure, often cheering for Kinnikuman during wrestling matches. He also serves as referee for the decisive tag-team match between Kinnikuman, Terryman, Abdullah, and Tigerian, delivering the final count securing victory for the justice chojin. His presence in the manga diminishes after the Choujin Olympics with no further appearances.
The anime adaptation expands his role significantly. He debuts during the Choujin Olympics as a minion of Brutal Alien (Zangyaku-seijin), retaining his cowardly traits. He eventually defects to Kinnikuman's side, becoming a recurring sidekick alongside Meat and appearing frequently as part of the core supporting cast throughout the anime's run.
Nachiguron's personality centers on his desire to prove his worth despite inherent fearfulness, striving to face challenges independently and seeking validation from Kinnikuman and Meat. He possesses additional traits like loud snoring. His nicknames, "Loser Kaijū" and "Drop-out Kaijū," reflect his initial perception, while his name derives from the Japanese candy Nachiguro.
