Description
Kaori Maejima is a third-year piano student at the Shukusei Music Academy, where her status as the chairman's granddaughter grants her significant influence and a sense of entitlement. Her background has cultivated a haughty and arrogant personality, and she openly admits to valuing money and power above other concerns. While she generally uses polite language and honorifics when addressing others, she makes a pointed exception for the dormitory manager, Shusaku, whom she dismissively refers to as Kato. This behavior reflects her confrontational dynamic with him, despite her otherwise formal demeanor.

Kaori’s primary motivation is to assert her status and live by her own rules, often in defiance of the academy's strict regulations. This rebellious streak puts her at odds with the instructor Minami Ayaka, for whom she harbors a dislike that is described as being akin to a sibling rivalry. Within the story, Kaori initially appears as an antagonist to the predatory dormitory manager. However, she becomes one of his primary targets, as his blackmail schemes involve drugging and exploiting her. Facing this threat, she forms a crucial alliance with another student, Eri Takabe, to resist Shusaku's actions, a decision that places her in direct opposition to her own grandfather.

Kaori's key relationships are marked by conflict and strategic alliance. Her bond with underclassman Moeko Fujima is notably more amicable; they frequently spend time together in her room, interacting with a familiarity that resembles sisters or close friends rather than seniors and juniors. Kaori demonstrates a degree of care for Moeko, such as giving her unwanted underwear, though she also finds the relationship somewhat burdensome. Throughout the narrative, Kaori undergoes a significant ordeal. Despite her initial arrogance and resistance, she ultimately succumbs, alongside Ayaka, to the threats and humiliation orchestrated by Shusaku. Her notable abilities are not supernatural but social, derived from her family name, which she wields to claim status and influence over others at the academy.
