Leo Aiolia guards Athena’s Sanctuary as the Gold Saint of Leo, overseeing the fifth zodiac house. He is the younger brother of Sagittarius Aiolos, falsely condemned as a traitor for allegedly attempting to assassinate the infant Athena. This legacy burdened Aiolia with years of distrust, fueling his relentless pursuit to prove his loyalty. Trained early by his brother, Aiolia later dyed his naturally blond hair red during the events of *Saint Seiya: Episode G*—set seven years before the main story—to distance himself from Aiolos’ tarnished reputation, though he privately revered his brother’s memory. Inspired by Aiolos’ teachings, he developed the destructive "Photon Burst" technique but cautioned against its use. This era also solidified his protective bonds with attendants Lithos and Galan, whom he considered family. In the *Sanctuary Arc*, the false Pope Gemini Saga dispatched Aiolia to eliminate Athena’s Bronze Saints and retrieve the Sagittarius Cloth. Confronting Pegasus Seiya in Japan, he witnessed the Sagittarius Cloth awaken Aiolos’ spirit, exposing the Pope’s deception. This revelation seeded doubt in Aiolia. Upon returning to Sanctuary, Saga manipulated him via the "Demon Emperor Fist," forcing an attack on Seiya at the Leo Temple. Cassios’ sacrifice to shield Seiya shattered the spell, freeing Aiolia to join Athena’s cause. During the *Hades Chapter - Sanctuary*, Aiolia surged into action after Virgo Shaka’s death at the hands of resurrected Gold Saints Saga, Camus, and Shura. Enraged, he confronted them and contributed to the "Athena Exclamation" clash that annihilated the Virgo Temple. Later, alongside Aries Mu and Scorpio Milo, he battled Wyvern Rhadamanthys in Hades’ castle. Hades’ curse crippled their powers, leading to defeat and imprisonment in Cocytus. Freed by Athena’s intervention in the Underworld, Aiolia and the Gold Saints sacrificed their lives and Cloths at the Wailing Wall to breach the barrier to Elysium. Resurrected in Asgard during the spin-off *Soul of Gold*, Aiolia allied with Lyfia, a servant of Queen Hilda. He shielded her from Asgardian forces while investigating supernatural disturbances tied to the god Loki. Identifying Loki as the true threat, he united the resurrected Gold Saints and was chosen to wield Odin’s Divine Robe. Empowered by Athena’s blood-stained petals, he attained a God Cloth and struck the final blow against Loki, liberating Asgard. Before vanishing, he gifted Lyfia a protective necklace. Standing 185 cm tall, Aiolia has light brown hair (blond in the manga) and green eyes. His lightning-based techniques include "Lightning Bolt," "Lightning Plasma," and the advanced "Photon Burst." Fiercely loyal yet impulsive, he often clashes with calmer saints like Mu but shares a close bond with Shaka. Renowned for his combat prowess, he is frequently called the "reincarnation of Achilles."
