Amano Jyaku is a demon-human hybrid originating from the man-beast realm. Born to a human and a demon, he was banished to Earth by the Great Elder as punishment for misdeeds involving the Elder’s daughter or granddaughter, Mimi. His centuries-long mission is to locate the prophesied Overfiend, also known as the Chōjin, a being fated to unite or destroy the three worlds of humans, demons, and man-beasts every three thousand years. He has a sister named Megumi and a primary rival in the demon Suikakuju. His quest involves key relationships, including a romantic connection with Mimi, whose visions aid his search. Over time, he becomes disillusioned when the Overfiend’s emergence brings apocalyptic devastation rather than peace. In later stories set in a post-apocalyptic world, he survives and navigates a landscape dominated by tyrannical forces, witnessing the rise of the Overfiend’s nemesis, the Lord of Chaos. The saga concludes with a temporal reset, forcing him to relive the cycle of his quest.
