Description
Amano Jyaku (also called Amano Jaku) is a beast-man hybrid (jūjin) and the central protagonist. Banished from the demon world to Earth for his misdeeds, he receives a mission from The Great Elder: locate the prophesied Chōjin (Overfiend), a god destined to unite the human, demon, and beast-man worlds. His centuries-long quest is initially driven by belief in the Chōjin's role in creating a harmonious "Land of Eternity."

Born of a human and a demon, his heritage bridges worlds. The manga depicts him as lecherous and manipulative, deceiving women into sexual encounters by falsely claiming his sperm protects against demons. Conversely, anime adaptations portray him with greater nobility and dedication to his mission, though both versions show fierce determination and occasional ruthlessness against threats to the Chōjin.

Key relationships define his journey. His nymphomaniac sister, Megumi Amano, complicates his mission through her obsession with Tatsuo Nagumo—the human host of the Chōjin. Her actions frequently cause conflicts, especially with Akemi Itō, Nagumo's lover. He also shares a bond with Mimi Tenno, The Great Elder's granddaughter, whose orgasms trigger prophetic visions essential to his quest. His rival, the demon Suikakujū, seeks to kill the Chōjin to preserve the demon world's independence, leading to repeated confrontations.

Amano Jyaku's path is marked by disillusionment. After identifying Nagumo as the Chōjin's vessel, he witnesses Nagumo transform into the destructive "Demon of Destruction," devastating Earth to forge a new world. This betrayal of his ideals forces him to reassess his loyalty and purpose. In the anime's post-apocalyptic arcs, he transitions from seeker to protector, guiding Nagumo and Akemi's offspring—the true Chōjin—while leading survivors against tyrants like the cyborg Caesar.

Later installments, such as the OVA *The Urotsuki* (2002), depict him as an immortal being with supernatural lusts, clashing with the Ultra God at Meishin College, retaining his core traits within apocalyptic battles. Across all media, his arc concludes with resigned acceptance of his fate: eternally wandering as a guardian amid the ruins of the worlds he once sought to unite.
