Description
Amano Jaku is a half-demon, half-human hybrid banished from the demon world to Earth by the Great Elder. His banishment resulted from misdeeds involving the Elder's granddaughter, Mimi. His primary mission is to locate the Chōjin (Overfiend), a god prophesied to unite the human, demon, and man-beast worlds, while also protecting it from rival demon factions seeking its destruction.

His characterization varies across media. The manga depicts him as lecherous and unsociopathic, manipulating women into sexual encounters by falsely claiming his sperm has demon-fighting properties. Earlier anime adaptations portray him with greater nobility and heroic traits, emphasizing a protective and mission-driven persona. In *Inferno Road*, set after the apocalyptic merging of the three worlds, he exhibits profound cynicism and weariness, traveling a monster-dominated wasteland as a witness to humanity's systematic rape and torture.

His relationships also differ between adaptations. His sister Megumi is a nymphomaniac in both versions, but the manga depicts her as malicious and manipulative, contrasting with the anime's kinder portrayal. Mimi, the Elder's granddaughter and his lover, possesses the power to project visions of the future through orgasm; their relationship directly caused his banishment.

In *Inferno Road*, he journeys alongside survivors including the Kyo-O (Lord of Chaos), protecting them as they travel toward Osaka for a prophesied confrontation with the Chōjin. During this journey, he faces Yoenki, the sister of his rival demon Suikakujū, who seeks revenge for her brother's death and is manipulated by the antagonist Münchhausen II. Flashbacks depict Amano's morally ambiguous actions, such as endangering civilians and a baby to defeat Suikakujū.

The narrative concludes with Amano regaining consciousness after a cataclysmic battle, finding himself inexplicably returned to 1988 Osaka at the saga's beginning, implying a cyclical fate. This ending was later retconned in the unfinished *Urotsukidōji V: The Final Chapter*, which declared the Chōjin of previous installments a fake but left his ultimate fate unresolved.
