Description
Initially serving as an antagonist among Don Harmage's minions in the NG Knight Lamune & 40 series, Da Cider discovers he is the brainwashed descendant of the first-generation hero Cider. This revelation liberates him from Don Harmage's control during the HaraHara World arc, prompting his Heel–Face Turn. He accepts his destiny and joins Lamune Baba's party to fight Goburiki.
He transitions into a deuteragonist role in the sequel VS Knight Lamune & 40 Fire, allying with Lamune Baba's son, Lamunade Baba, against the threat of Aburahm. Da Cider becomes co-pilot of the mecha Kaiser Fire alongside Lamunade. Their partnership evolves from friction into cooperation, though Da Cider retains a competitive streak and frequently clashes with Lamunade, echoing his earlier rivalry with Lamune Baba.
Standing 202 cm tall with a slender build and distinctive purple hair, Da Cider wears oversized shoulder pauldrons that function as dimensional portals. These summon his robotic snake-like advisor, Heavy Meta-Ko (also called Hebi Metako). Heavy Meta-Ko assists him in summoning his original mecha, Queen Cideron. Piloted during NG Knight, Queen Cideron is a Guardian Knight of equivalent power to Lamune's King Scassher. It unleashes attacks like the Black Bomb and Yaripanther when Da Cider's "Pressurometer" gauge reaches critical levels. This mecha is destroyed early in VS Knight, forcing Da Cider to rely on Kaiser Fire.
Da Cider exhibits arrogance, stubbornness, and provides comic relief, often delivering poorly received puns that frustrate others. Beneath his bravado lies loneliness and a desire for belonging, reflected in his character song lyrics. He carries a guitar-shaped machine gun ("guntar") used primarily for comedic outbursts rather than combat. His key relationships define him: a rivalry-turned-alliance with Lamune Baba and later Lamunade; a romantic connection with Lesqua (Café au Lait) that he struggles to express; and reliance on Heavy Meta-Ko, who shows unwavering loyalty and affection.
Beyond the television series, Da Cider appears in OVAs (NG Knight EX/DX, VS Knight FRESH), light novels (Da Cider Densetsu), manga adaptations, and video games like Super Robot Wars X-Ω. These appearances consistently reinforce his arc from ineffectual villain to steadfast ally, emphasizing his legacy as the reincarnation of the hero Cider and his commitment to opposing existential threats alongside the protagonists.
