Sanada, also known as Master Sandada, is an elderly wizard leading the resistance against Princess Buburina in the cat world of Banipal Witt. His magical abilities are severely weakened for most of the narrative by Buburina's curse, which renders him physically dependent, forcing others to pull him around, typically rebel members like Suttoboke. His primary source of power, the Sorcerer's Arm, was stolen by his former apprentice DohDoh after DohDoh viewed a cursed portrait of Buburina and fell under her control. This theft further cripples Sanada and hampers the resistance. Despite his limitations, Sanada provides vital guidance to protagonists Toriyasu and Meeko, revealing their dog Papadoll has been transformed into a monstrous weapon by Buburina. He warns they must reverse this transformation before sunrise to avoid the same fate. The loss of DohDoh and the Sorcerer's Arm represents a major personal and strategic setback for Sanada. Near the film's conclusion, regaining the Sorcerer's Arm allows him to break Buburina's curse, restoring himself and other affected characters to their normal states.
