Tolby, alternately called Toby or Torby, is a human male with blond hair, blue eyes, and a striking blue magician’s costume featuring a cape adorned with poofed sleeves. Once an apprentice to the sorcerer Kukurukku, he wields magic and a haunting flute melody to transform living creatures into zombie-like puppets, driven by a pact to master advanced spells and ultimately outstrip his mentor.

Beneath his loyalty to Kukurukku lies a fierce devotion to his younger sister Cherry, creating a tension between his ruthless duties and protective instincts. Though stoic in demeanor, his resolve cracks when Cherry faces peril: after failing to shield her initially, he throws himself before a lethal magical strike meant for her, triggering his own transformation into a puppet. This sacrifice fractures his allegiance to Kukurukku, redirecting his path toward atonement.

Skilled in transmuting objects and commanding puppet followers through his flute, Tolby pivots decisively, undermining Kukurukku’s reign by freeing the enslaved and catalyzing the antagonist’s defeat. While his curse remains unbroken, his final acts secure Cherry’s safety and undo the sorcery plaguing others, leaving his puppet-bound fate ambiguous yet his legacy of redemption intact.
