Description
Ginger is a character from the magical girl anime series, A Little Snow Fairy Sugar. She is one of the several adult season fairies who appear in the human world, having already completed her training and graduated to the status of a full-fledged fairy. Her specific role is to serve as the rain fairy responsible for bringing rainfall to the town of Muhlenberg where the story takes place.

In terms of background, Ginger is a newly qualified season fairy who has recently graduated from her studies with excellent results. This places her as a direct senior to the three main apprentice fairies: Sugar, the snow fairy; Salt, the sun fairy; and Pepper, the wind fairy. Because of her successful training and professional status, she is seen by these younger apprentices as a cool, admirable, and slightly glamorous figure to look up to. Her human-equivalent age is approximately twenty years old.

Personality-wise, Ginger is portrayed as a composed and capable fairy who takes her duties seriously. Unlike the often clumsy and impulsive apprentices, she is efficient and skilled at her job of creating rain, which she performs using her chosen magical instrument, a violin. She is a source of intrigue among the other adult fairies, most notably the Elder, who is the ancient and powerful leader of all season fairies. The Elder is said to be completely smitten with Ginger and is frequently seen attempting to pursue her or gain her attention, much to the chagrin of the other season fairies who find his infatuation distracting.

Ginger's role in the story is primarily that of a supporting cast member who represents the goal that apprentice fairies are striving to achieve. Her presence and professionalism highlight the gap between the childlike apprentices and the fully realized fairies they hope to become. While she does not live with the human protagonist Saga Bergman like Sugar does, she interacts with the human world as part of her job and is occasionally visible to Saga, who has the rare ability to see season fairies. Her key relationships, therefore, are with the other adult fairies such as Turmeric, the cloud fairy, and with the apprentices whom she mentors from a distance through her example. Her primary instrument is the violin, which she uses to conduct the weather, a defining aspect of her identity as the rain fairy.
