Quatre Raberba Winner, born December 12, After Colony 180 in the L4 colony cluster, is the sole male heir of the wealthy Winner family, owners of a major space mining corporation. He has twenty-nine older sisters, all conceived through artificial reproduction due to historical complications with natural childbirth in space. Unbeknownst to him initially, Quatre was the only naturally conceived child; his mother died during his birth, fostering feelings of being replaceable and unloved by his pacifist father, Zayeed Winner.
His life changed during a hostage crisis on resource satellite MO-III in AC 193. When the Maganac Corps commandeered the satellite to negotiate Earth leave, Quatre intercepted a traitor relaying coordinates to the United Earth Sphere Alliance. He took a bullet meant for Maganac leader Rasid Kurama, then assumed command, donning Rasid's goggles and successfully repelling the Alliance assault. This act earned him the enduring loyalty of the Maganac Corps, who accepted him as their leader.
Despite his father's pacifist beliefs, Quatre was convinced by scientist "Instructor H" to participate in Operation Meteor as pilot of the Gundam Sandrock. The scientists had altered the operation's original genocidal plan to target only OZ military installations. Quatre agreed to this modified mission, further straining his relationship with Zayeed.
During the war, Quatre developed a close friendship with fellow Gundam pilot Trowa Barton. His pacifist nature made him reluctant to kill, often apologizing to fallen enemies. He possessed an empathetic disposition and an implied extrasensory perception he termed the "heart of outer space" (uchuu no kokoro).
A pivotal trauma occurred when his father, voted out of leadership, detached the family's resource satellite to prevent OZ weaponization. The colony destroyed it, killing Zayeed as Quatre and his sister Iria watched. Grief-stricken, Quatre used family resources and Instructor H's blueprints to construct the Wing Gundam Zero, equipped with the dangerous ZERO System neural interface. The system overwhelmed his psyche, driving him to destroy an evacuated civilian colony and an OZ-occupied resource satellite. Trowa Barton intervened, sacrificing himself to block Wing Zero's attacks and seemingly dying, which restored Quatre's sanity.
Later, Quatre aided Heero Yuy in overcoming the ZERO System during testing at the Lunar Base. He traveled to the Sanc Kingdom, joining former OZ instructor Lucrezia Noin in its defense against the Romefeller Foundation. After the kingdom's fall, he briefly resumed leadership of the Winner Corporation before rejoining the conflict. He located the amnesiac Trowa—revealed alive—at a circus, though Trowa's sister prevented his immediate return to combat.
During the Eve Wars, Quatre coordinated with other Gundam pilots aboard the battleship Peacemillion after his Sandrock was upgraded for space combat (Sandrock Custom). He witnessed the White Fang's attack on the OZ space fortress Bulge and participated in liberating a colony held hostage by OZ. His inherent leadership solidified his role in uniting the pilots during these conflicts.
The Frozen Teardrop sequel novel provides no concrete details on his further activities or development. His legacy is defined by his evolution from a reluctant soldier to a strategic coordinator, balancing pacifist ideals with the necessity of armed resistance.
