Description
Doctor Yellow is a central character in Hikarian, serving as the team's dedicated first-class engineer and technical expert. His primary responsibilities encompass everything from the meticulous maintenance of the mecha used by the Hikarians to the crucial task of keeping the railroad tracks in perfect working order. Due to his technical role, he is affectionately called Doctor by everyone. His design is based on the real-world Shinkansen Doctor Yellow diagnostic trains, which is fitting for his function as a specialist in railway infrastructure and equipment.

In terms of personality, Doctor Yellow is characterized as highly intelligent and resourceful, embodying the role of a scientist and inventor. He is a key member of the Hikarian Headquarters, operating as one of the base's main control staff and providing essential logistical support. His motivations are driven by a desire to protect his fellow Hikarians and ensure their operational effectiveness through his technical skills rather than direct combat. He is notably not a frontline fighter and is recognized as being not good at fighting. His technical prowess is shown to be so significant that the equipment he develops is vital for the team's overall success.

Doctor Yellow's role in the story evolves from pure technical support to a more active, front-line capacity. While he is one of the base operators, his piloting skills with specific vehicles allow him to be more active outside the headquarters than his colleagues. He is the designated driver of the Hikarian Trailer, a special support vehicle. His most significant development occurs when he creates a giant, armored vehicle called the Big Wonder, which was originally developed for track maintenance work. By piloting this powerful machine, he is able to directly participate in battles and become active on the front lines, overcoming his initial weakness in combat. A notable flaw is that his inventions or actions can sometimes lead to unexpected failures, adding a layer of fallibility to his genius.

Key relationships place him as a direct assistant to Dr. 300X, another highly intelligent test car and scientist within the Hikarian group. He works closely with the other Hikarians but from a support and engineering capacity. His lack of combat ability was highlighted in an incident where he was nearly defeated by the antagonistic Black Express, an event that likely spurred the development of the Big Wonder to allow him to protect himself and contribute more directly. His notable abilities include his vast engineering knowledge, his skill in maintaining complex machinery and tracks, and his proficiency in piloting specialized support vehicles like the Hikarian Trailer and the formidable Big Wonder.
