Description
Goldy Marg is a fictional robotic character from the anime series, designated as GMX-GH101 and classified as a G-Tool Multi-Robot. His name is derived from the construction concept G.O.R.D.I., which stands for G-tech Origin Resisting and Damage control Idea. Created by the organization GGG, Goldy Marg was designed with a singular, critical purpose: to act as the dedicated carrier and handler for the Goldion Hammer, a powerful gravity shockwave-generating tool. This role was necessary because wielding the Goldion Hammer directly would cause severe recoil damage to the primary robot, GaoGaiGar; Goldy Marg enables its safe use by transforming into a component called the Marg Hand.
Physically, Goldy Marg is the largest of the Vehicle Machines, standing 25.5 meters tall and weighing 625 tons in its primary robot mode. In addition to its robot form, it possesses the ability to perform a System Change, transforming into a vehicle mode known as the Goldy Tank, which is 24 meters long. This tank mode is equipped with a powerful fusion beam cannon called the Marg Cannon, which is built into the Goldion Hammer's handle and can be used in both robot and tank configurations. A testament to its immense durability, Goldy Marg is constructed with Ultra G-Armorment, allowing it to operate under extreme conditions such as amplified gravity fields, survive point-blank explosions and terminal falls, and even traverse vertical surfaces.
The character was unexpectedly activated during a crisis when a falling cable jumpstarted its systems amidst an assault by the Zonder robot EI-21, whose gravity-manipulating abilities had immobilized GGG forces. Relying on its high GS-Ride output and extreme toughness, Goldy Marg navigated the intense gravity field and deliberately destroyed the Space Development Center's observatory, causing its collapse onto the enemy to neutralize the effect and liberate GGG. Subsequently, GaoGaiGar combined with Goldy Marg to deploy the Goldion Hammer and annihilate the Zonder.
Goldy Marg's personality is a direct result of its engineering; its Super AI is patterned on the neural patterns of the hotheaded GGG operative Geki Hyuuma. As a result, Goldy Marg is arrogant, boastful, impatient, and stubborn, with a hot-blooded and never-give-up attitude. This personality match leads to frequent, often comedic, bickering between Goldy Marg and Hyuuma, particularly regarding the robot's duties and battlefield tactics.
The core of Goldy Marg's role in the story is its functional combination with Super Mechanoids like GaoGaiGar, Star GaoGaiGar, or GaoFighGar in a process called Arm Connect. In this combination, its head unit, which houses its AI core and GS-Ride system, detaches from the Goldion Hammer. Simultaneously, its body transforms into the Marg Hand and attaches to the Super Mechanoid's arm, acting as an oversized forearm. This allows the pilot to safely wield the Goldion Hammer, protecting them from its destructive energy feedback. The hammer itself generates a custom shockwave upon impact that transmutes contacted particles into photons at a subatomic level, making it highly effective against Zonder Robos.
Goldy Marg undergoes a significant arc of destruction and renewal. During the Osaka conflict with the doppelganger Repli-Star GaoGaiGar, the original Goldion Hammer was destroyed by the Repli-Mamoru's Hell and Heaven attack, which physically obliterated Goldy Marg as well. However, its Super AI survived and was later embedded into a new weapon, the Gravity Shockwave Generating Division Tool called the Goldion Crusher. The Goldion Crusher was deployed once against the enemy Pisa Sol, sacrificing itself to destroy the target, but the head unit containing Goldy Marg's AI remained functional and was retrieved by GGG. Later, within a universal embryo, the regenerative power of a force called the Triple Zero restored Goldy Marg to its original physical form. After being defeated by the robot GaoFighGar and subsequently purified, its Super AI was transferred into the Goldion Double Hammer, after which it insisted on being called GoldyDoubleMarg. Its AI was even later integrated into the Goldion Armor. Among its other notable abilities are a combination attack with a fellow robot named Dag-Drill called the Gori-Marg, featured in a video game adaptation, and the Goldion Magnum technique where the Marg Hand itself is launched at an enemy like a rocket punch.
