Description
Ikumi Kaidou, also known as Arma, originates from the same extraterrestrial universe as Mamoru Amami. Genetically altered as a clone of Mamoru's counterpart, Latio, he was designed to support Soldat J's unit. He arrived on Earth as an infant aboard the J-Ark spacecraft after the mechanization of the Red Planet and was adopted by an elderly woman, Ms. Kaidou, who raised him.
Initially reclusive and taciturn, he avoided friendships, believing emotional detachment would spare others grief over his eventual departure. He often kept his hands in his pockets and remained silent, behavior stemming from conflict about his alien identity and transient existence. His abilities include enhanced telekinesis and purification powers, linked to the J-Jewel he wields—a counterpart to Mamoru's G-Stone.
During the Primeval Arc, his true identity as Arma is revealed when he assists both GGG and Soldat J against a common enemy. He discreetly demonstrates his telekinesis, fending off EI-19's attacks and engaging in long-range combat while maintaining secrecy from most human allies. Later, in the FINAL OVA series, he loses his memories after returning to Earth and is cared for by Australian girl Yuka Koala, eventually recovering them. He becomes a support character for GGG confronting the Sol Planetary Masters and their plan to restore the Trinary Solar System at Earth's expense.
In the sequel "King of Kings: GaoGaiGar VS Betterman", set eight years after FINAL, he undergoes substantial development. He evolves into a deuteragonist and co-captain of GGG's Mobile Corps Division alongside Mamoru, piloting the mechanoid GaoGaiGo in Project Z to rescue former comrades. His personality becomes more expressive, transitioning to first-name terms with Mamoru and engaging more openly with colleagues. He retains combat proficiencies like razor-sharp hand slashes and adopts a scarf reminiscent of Soldat J's attire.
His relationships include deep loyalty to foster mother Ms. Kaidou, a guardian-like bond with Soldat J, and a complex friendship with Mamoru that evolves from rivalry to mutual reliance. He harbors unrequited feelings for Yuka Koala but prioritizes her happiness when she marries another. Later, he experiences subtle romantic tension with Alouette Pommier, remaining largely oblivious to her affections initially.
