Perugius Dola is a high-ranking member of the Dragon Tribe in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, known by the title Armored Dragon King. He is the son of the dragons Crystal and Dora, and the godson of Laplace, the Demon God. As one of the legendary heroes who fought and sealed Laplace in the great war roughly five hundred years before the main story, he is regarded as one of the most powerful and respected figures alive. After the war, an era was named in his honor, the Armored Dragon Era. He gained lasting fame by restoring the ancient floating fortress Chaos Breaker and using it as a base in the campaign against Laplace. Following the conflict, he spent time in the Asura Kingdom as an honored guest and equal to the king, whom he came to regard as a friend, but he eventually grew weary of court life and withdrew into seclusion, living in his sky castle while quietly traveling the world to prepare for the possibility that Laplace would one day return.

Perugius carries himself with an air of nobility, authority, and considerable pride. He has a rigid demeanor and does not tolerate disrespect, especially when it concerns his status or appearance. Despite this sternness, he is not impulsive or unreasonable. He possesses a strategic and calculating mind, and he is willing to reassess his initial judgments when new information emerges. He holds a deep sense of order and justice, valuing discipline, loyalty, and honorable conduct above most other things. Centuries of painful memories from the war have left him with strong prejudice against the Demon Race, which shapes some of his interactions with demon characters. He is also extremely patient, deliberately holding back his full strength and refusing to risk his life unless the true enemy he has been waiting for, Laplace, actually returns. Though he presents himself as an unapproachable ancient hero, he shows moments of humanity through his respect for worthy warriors, his appreciation for order, and his genuine concern over the dangers that may threaten the world in the future.

His central motivation is preventing the resurrection of Laplace and preserving peace among the races. He monitors the balance of the world from his floating fortress, rarely intervening in smaller wars or political disputes unless he perceives a threat to that balance. He also takes a deep interest in dimensional distortions and phenomena related to other worlds, viewing them as recurring dangers that need to be understood and, if possible, eliminated. This interest leads him to take in Nanahoshi Shizuka, whom he shelters because he recognizes her origins in another world, a subject he has studied extensively.

In the story, Perugius functions as an ancient and influential figure whose knowledge and resources become important to the main characters. His castle, Chaos Breaker, is not merely a home but a mobile fortress designed to counter Laplace's overwhelming magical power. He maintains a network of teleportation circles across the world, and with the aid of magical tools he can summon people directly to his castle, making his transportation system a valuable asset for characters such as Rudeus Greyrat. When Rudeus first meets him, the encounter is tense and intimidating. Perugius confronts Rudeus over his demon eye, which he despises because of its connection to Kishirika, and over his link to Orsted, but he ultimately steps back and reevaluates the situation rather than acting rashly, demonstrating the strategic patience that defines him.

His relationships are shaped by his long history. He is the son of Crystal and Dora, both dragons of significant standing, and he inherited his magical legacy from them, with his teleportation expertise building on Crystal's research and his summoning abilities descending from Dora. His bond with Laplace, his godfather, is a painful part of his past, since Laplace became the enemy he dedicated his life to opposing. He also shares a connection with the North God Karuman I, a companion from the Laplace campaign who married the demon god Atoferatofe and secured a promise from Perugius and Atoferatofe not to kill each other. Among those closest to him are his twelve familiars, ancient spirits bound to him through his unique summoning magic. These include Sylvaril of the Void, a member of the Sky Race whom he saved centuries ago and who now serves as his most loyal attendant and spokesperson; Arumanfi of the Bright, a light-speed scout; Yuruzu of Atonement, who can transfer life force to heal others; Sukeakoto of Time, who can freeze time while touching an opponent; Clearnight of Thunder, whose supernatural hearing detects distant signals; and Trophymus of the Wave, a combat-oriented spirit. Most of these familiars are King-Class in strength and can be re-summoned even after being destroyed, allowing him to recover his forces over time.

Perugius is a supreme-class mage in both summoning and barrier magic. He developed a technique that allows summoned spirits to remain in the world for as long as he lives, a major advancement in his field. He is also a first-class expert in teleportation magic and possesses extensive knowledge of magical engineering, which he used to restore and maintain Chaos Breaker. In battle he can call upon the Dragon Gates, two enormous magical gates that absorb magical energy from everyone nearby and strip warriors of their battle aura; the Golden Gate is especially effective at draining the life energy that empowers physical fighters, leaving even legendary warriors weakened. His long dragon lifespan has given him centuries of experience and magical research, making his knowledge of ancient history and forgotten techniques nearly unmatched. Over the course of the story, his role evolves from a distant mythic figure into a cautious ally whose patience, judgment, and accumulated power position him as a decisive force in the conflicts that lie ahead.
