Description
Romeo Jisso, Jolyne Cujoh’s ex-boyfriend, ignites the story’s central conflict through calculated deceit. Hailing from privilege, his cowardice and self-interest drive him to manipulate circumstances for personal safety. When a car accident injures a pedestrian, he coerces Jolyne into covering up the incident to protect his college prospects, later falsifying testimony to blame her for drunk driving. With help from a lawyer tied to Johngalli A’s machinations, he escapes legal fallout, leaving Jolyne imprisoned.

Athletic and sharp-featured, he sports an undercut hairstyle edged with three to four striped bands. His polished casual wear—a purple-striped sweater, later a lavender shirt paired with military-green pants—hints at affluent nonchalance.

After Jolyne’s prison escape, he becomes a reluctant pawn. Confronted for resources, he panics as Ermes Costello copies his tongue via her Stand to surveil him. Despite tearful apologies, he later misdirects police by falsely claiming Jolyne fled to Mexico, buying her group time. This momentary cooperation dissolves when Jolyne commands Ermes to sever the replicated tongue, leaving him wounded as precaution.

His arc underscores the clash between self-preservation and fleeting allegiance. Though guilt briefly surfaces in his police diversion, his foundational instincts—evasion, manipulation, and prioritizing status—anchor him as a morally ambiguous figure who propels Jolyne’s struggles without redemption.
