Description
Captain Shonosuke Kuramoto commands the space vessel Starlight on its interstellar test flight, holding authority and the respect of his senior officers. When the crew uncovers artifacts hinting at the legendary planet Odin, Kuramoto insists on following Earth Command's directive to return immediately, rejecting the pursuit of the unverified destination. This strict adherence to protocol sparks conflict with eager junior crew members, who stage a mutiny. They confine Kuramoto and the senior officers within the ship's lounge, removing him from command during the transit through a wormhole and the initial encounters with a mechanized alien fleet.
Following the Starlight's landing on the mechanized world, Kuramoto is released from confinement during the crisis involving the master computer Belgel. He resumes a leadership position, coordinating the crew's efforts to counter this threat. His operational expertise proves crucial in successfully inserting a computer virus that overloads and destroys Belgel's world-fortress. Kuramoto's command continues after the fortress's destruction as the Starlight proceeds with its voyage in search of Odin.
