TV-Series
Description
Sophie Senoo, born November 14, 1990, hails from Osaka but moves to Misora with her father after her parents' divorce. She presents a blunt, assertive personality, often perceived as rude due to her direct Kansai dialect and tendency to voice opinions openly. Naturally sporty and athletic, she excels in physical activities but harbors a distinct fear of swimming, avoiding it when possible.

Living solely with her father, a taxi driver, Sophie takes on domestic responsibilities like cooking and cleaning. She conceals deep emotional pain stemming from her mother's absence, pain intensified upon discovering her father withheld letters from her mother meant to shield her. A visit to Osaka leads to a misunderstanding when she sees her mother with an infant; Sophie mistakenly believes her mother started a new family, though the baby is later revealed to belong to a neighbor.

Her life changes when she and Hazuki Fujiwara witness Doremi Harukaze using magic, leading to their recruitment as witch apprentices by Majo Rika to protect the secret. Sophie embraces this role, hoping magic can ease her father's burdens. Represented by sky blue, she displays natural magical aptitude, mastering spells and broom riding quickly despite initial struggles with incantations. Her fairy partner is Mimi.

Sophie's character development is heavily influenced by her family struggles. During the second season, forming a strong maternal bond with Hana-chan, the magical baby entrusted to the apprentices, stirs insecurities about her own lack of maternal guidance, yet she becomes fiercely protective of Hana. Renewed contact with her mother fuels her efforts to reconcile her parents.

The OVA *Ojamajo Doremi Na-i-sho* features an episode where an old friend, Anrima Kenichi, reappears, reminding her of a childhood marriage pact. While she cares for him, she does not reciprocate his romantic feelings.

Facing significant decisions in the fourth season, Sophie's father proposes to her mother again, but her grandfather's illness requires her mother to remain in Osaka. Sophie chooses to move to Osaka to live with both parents, separating from her friends. Concurrently, she declines becoming a full witch to maintain a normal human lifespan with her family, despite the emotional difficulty of leaving her companions.

The light novel sequels (*Ojamajo Doremi 16–20's*) revisit Sophie during high school. She reunites with the original group and resumes witch apprenticeship alongside them, navigating adolescence while readjusting to magical responsibilities.

Her relationships define key aspects of her journey: a close, teasing bond with Doremi; empathetic support for the sensitive Hazuki; mutual respect developed with the initially manipulative Onpu Segawa; and acting as a grounding influence for Momoko Asuka, helping her adapt to Japanese social norms. Sophie also interacts with classmates like Nobuko Yokokawa, with whom she shares the common experience of parental divorce, forging a strong friendship.
