Description
Edward Brighton, often called by his nickname Eddie, is the younger son of the Earl of Brighton and the younger brother of Arthur Brighton. He is a member of a noble British family with a strong equestrian tradition, a pursuit that marks their wealth and social standing. Edward is characterized by a playful and cheerful disposition, contrasting with his older brother Arthur who is more polite, responsible, and reserved. While both brothers are kind-hearted and possess a strong sense of justice, Edward is notably more reckless, hot-tempered, and prone to letting his emotions guide his actions.

From a young age, Edward forms an immediate and close bond with Lynn Russell upon her arrival in England. His feelings for her form the core of his personal motivations, as he consistently demonstrates strong protective instincts over her well-being and is quick to act against anyone who upsets her. Edward experiences a period of unrequited feelings, believing that Lynn might not reciprocate the depth of his emotions. While Lynn initially has a childhood crush on Arthur, Edward is singularly focused on Lynn from the moment he sees her. His relationship with Lynn develops slowly over time from a childhood friendship into a deep, mutual romantic affection, ultimately leading to their marriage. In the sequel manga continuity, the couple has twin children named George and Diana.

Edward's role in the story is primarily as a supportive figure and a love interest for Lynn. He stands as a protector alongside his brother, helping Lynn and her sister Sarah navigate life in the Marble Mansion. He is a key part of the "double in-law marriage" that unites the Brighton and Russell families, as Arthur ends up with Sarah while Edward ends up with Lynn. Edward notably ships his brother's relationship with Sarah, just as Arthur supports Edward's pursuit of Lynn.

Edward's notable abilities are centered on his equestrian skill. He is an active rider, and by the time of the sequel Hello! Lady Lynn, he attends a university in France and serves as the captain of the equestrian club. One significant event that marks his growth involves the horse Alessandra. Although the horse initially rejects Edward while allowing Arthur and Lynn to ride her, Edward successfully rides Alessandra to intervene and prevent Lynn from returning to Japan, marking a pivotal moment in his personal journey and his relationship with Lynn. In his later life, he eventually runs a ranch.
