Atroe is an inmate serving a seven-year sentence at Green Dolphin Street Prison for kidnapping a child for sport without ransom demands. This criminal impulse originated from an unusual childhood obsession with being kidnapped, which led her to deliberately get lost in department stores. Facing persistent bullying from fellow inmates, she volunteers for a search party investigating missing prisoners to gain temporary respite.
Physically, Atroe is a young woman of average height and slim build. Her most distinctive feature is her hairstyle with serrated edges. She wears the standard prison jumpsuit bearing "G.D. st JAIL" on the back. Alternate portrayals show variations: fair skin with either green or golden-yellow lipstick; lime green or green hair; and burnt orange or cyan eyes, though these details are not consistent.
Her narrative involvement occurs during the search mission in the prison's farmlands and swamps. While investigating alongside Jolyne Cujoh, Ermes Costello, and others, Atroe notices the unexplained presence of a sixth member in their group. Shortly after this observation, the supervising guard dies under suspicious circumstances. This death triggers the explosive bracelets worn by the search party, designed to detonate if they move more than 50 meters from the guard. Atroe's bracelet activates, killing her instantly.
Following her death, Atroe's body is appropriated by Foo Fighters, a sentient colony of plankton created by Enrico Pucci's Stand, Whitesnake. The plankton uses her corpse as a permanent vessel, adopting her physical appearance, hairstyle, and prison attire. While inhabiting the body, Foo Fighters occasionally references Atroe's past behaviors, such as her habitual use of four segments of toilet paper. However, the personality and actions exhibited belong solely to Foo Fighters, not Atroe. This corporeal form remains active until Foo Fighters' destruction during a confrontation with Enrico Pucci.
