Description
Flatorte is a blue dragon over 400 years old who typically manifests as a teenage girl, retaining her dragon tail even in human form. Once leader of the blue dragons and dubbed the "Prank Queen," she habitually targeted the rival red dragon clan, notably attempting to disrupt the wedding of Leila, Laika's sister. This act led to her defeat by Azusa Aizawa, marking their first encounter.
A pivotal moment occurred when Azusa touched Flatorte's horns during a demon awards ceremony; in blue dragon culture, this signifies total obedience to the toucher. Consequently, Flatorte entered a period of strict, emotionless servitude, refusing even basic sustenance without Azusa's explicit permission. Disturbed by this loss of autonomy, Azusa commanded Flatorte to live freely. Regaining her spirited personality, Flatorte subsequently joined Azusa's household as part of the family. She regards Azusa with deep respect as a master, mother, or sister figure and is treated like a younger sibling in return, despite being chronologically the oldest member.
Flatorte exhibits a bold, competitive, and straightforward personality. She craves challenges, combat-related or otherwise, frequently initiating rivalry with the household's red dragon, Laika. Though they clash often, their relationship evolves into one of competitive friendship. She expresses herself with a distinctive speech pattern, often ending sentences with "it is" and referring to herself in the third person as "Flatorte," "Miss Flatorte," or simply "I." Generally energetic and sometimes oblivious to social norms—exhibited by moments where she disrobes due to feeling "cramped," though she retains a sense of shame—she reveals a quieter, gentler, and unexpectedly clever side when genuinely relaxed, a contrast that surprises Laika.
Her abilities extend beyond inherent draconic strength, speed, and control over cold air (coupled with a dislike for heat). She possesses considerable artistic talents: a skilled lute player and singer, she often serves as a music teacher for Kuku the bard. She also demonstrates talent in visual arts, winning a children's drawing contest, and is a proficient cook. Additionally, she holds a high alcohol tolerance, able to drink Beelzebub's strong liquors with ease.
Within the household, her rivalry with Laika often centers on competing for Azusa's attention or approval, though their conflicts are generally harmless. She shares a mentor-student bond with Kuku and comfortably consumes Beelzebub's potent drinks. Her background includes a past romantic relationship with a pearl dragon, which ended due to her prank-focused behavior toward the red dragons.
