Description
Shōko Ōgi represents the thirty-eighth generation of her hereditary exorcist clan, serving under the deity Karura to protect Japan from supernatural threats. She wields the Scroll of Heaven, enabling her to perceive spiritual forces and pinpoint malevolent entities. Her energetic sister, Maiko Ōgi, commands the complementary Scroll of Earth. Shōko's calm, intelligent demeanor and strategic thinking provide a mature counterpoint during missions. She has black hair and is affectionately nicknamed "Shii-chan" by Maiko.

Guided by their grandmother, the retired matriarch Oumi Ōgi, who offers crucial support and wisdom, the sisters collaborate with key allies. These include Tsukasa Kenmochi, a descendant of Abe no Seimei specializing in mystical acupuncture; Nishikiori, a government agent initially skeptical of the occult; and Chikae Ikeda, a martial artist who joined after the sisters helped resolve the Nara curse that killed his father. Their efforts occasionally receive aid from Wani, an onryō spirit from the Nara period, and they encounter Hiroe Ikeda, Chikae’s half-brother, who fluctuates between ally and rival.

Posing as transfer students to infiltrate locations beset by evil spirits, Shōko and Maiko investigate supernatural disturbances across Japan. Shōko's role centers on detection and strategy using her perceptual abilities, while Maiko typically performs the banishments.
