Description
Tsukasa Kenmochi is a hereditary descendant of the legendary Japanese onmyōji, Abe no Seimei. He publicly practices acupuncture while secretly conducting exorcisms. This lineage grants him formidable spiritual power, earning him the epithet "The Dark Deathkeeper" (闇の死繰人, *Yami no Shiguruto*).
Kenmochi wields unique needles called *amagihagiri* (天羽々切) as his primary tools. These needles function both as acupuncture instruments and weapons against malevolent spirits, seamlessly blending his dual professions. His missions target those exploiting mystical arts for harm, positioning him as a guardian against occult corruption.
Within the Ōgi family's exorcism operations, Kenmochi serves as a key ally to the twins Shōko and Maiko Ōgi. He partners with government agent Nishikiori, initially skeptical of the supernatural, to investigate and neutralize paranormal threats. Kenmochi also mentors Chikae Ikeda, a student with emerging spiritual talents encountered during the Nara mission, training her in exorcism.
His relationship with Hiroe Ikeda, Chikae's half-brother, evolves into a rivalry. Hiroe, operating under the alias "Dragon King" (辰王, *shinno*), initially participated in the conspiracy causing their father's death. After defecting, Hiroe intermittently assists Kenmochi and the Ōgi sisters, though his independent motives maintain a tense dynamic.
Kenmochi features in both the 1989 film and 1990–1991 OVA series, supporting the Ōgi sisters' investigations. His activities focus on cases involving curses, possessions, and political conspiracies entwined with occult forces, like the Ikeda family curse in Nara.
