Description
Blacky, also called Blacki, Buraki, Braki, or Colonel Blaki, is a high-ranking military officer in the Vegan Empire who serves as a major antagonist in the early stages of the conflict against Duke Fleed and Earth.
A loyal member of the Vegan military, he leads missions to eliminate Duke Fleed and secure Earth for Vegan expansion. He commands giant robotic Saucer Beasts, directing attacks on Earth, often targeting major cities such as Tokyo.
Though loyal to the Empire, Blacky is ambitious and willing to betray fellow officers to advance his own standing within the imperial command structure. He operates under direct orders from superiors like General Gandar, to whom he reports mission progress and failures.
In the manga, Blacky sends the Saucer Beast GilGil to attack Tokyo. After Duke Fleed pilots Grendizer to defeat it, Blacky reports the failure to Gandar and receives instructions to continue the pursuit.
In newer continuity, he remains a persistent adversary. He ambushes Rubina, a key figure from Duke Fleed’s past, as she attempts to make contact—an action that triggers severe consequences and misunderstandings among Earth’s defenders.
His tactics involve locating the hidden Grendizer and orchestrating attacks to capture or destroy it, including the use of Duke Fleed’s former associates from Planet Fleed as controlled pawns to lure him out.
Blacky’s command includes overseeing original Saucer Beast designs such as FaruFaru in later iterations, a winning design from a public contest.
