Description
Jiro Shutendo, a hybrid of oni and human heritage, is central to the narrative. The oni Senki delivers him as an infant to human newlyweds Ryuichiro and Kyoko Shiba, warning he will reclaim the child in 15 years. They name him Jiro Shutendo, altering the spelling of "Shuten Doji" to "Heaven Hand Child" to avoid negative connotations. Raised as their son, Jiro displays accelerated maturity and latent supernatural abilities.

By age 15, his oni powers manifest. He survives a truck collision unscathed while causing massive destruction, revealing demonic resilience. His shadow occasionally projects his guardian oni, Goki. Jiro attracts malevolent oni and the cult Ankoku Jashin Kyo, who target him and those close to him, including his love interest Miyuki Shiratori. Goki intervenes to protect Jiro, thwarting attacks like one by delinquents with a knife. His adoptive parents actively research oni lore to safeguard him, his father confirming their awareness of his destiny.

Senki returns to collect Jiro, triggering a conflict that propels Jiro, Miyuki, and allies across time and space. He travels to ancient Japan and a dystopian future, encountering entities like the cyborg Iron Kaiser (Kukai Jawanbo's son seeking vengeance). Future scans reveal Jiro's non-human physiology is composed of light. Events culminate in the Dark Demon World, where Jiro discovers his biological mother created the oni to inflict suffering after losing him. This resolves a time loop: her grief-driven creation led to Senki delivering Jiro to the Shibas, causing her descent into madness. Jiro and his parents break the cycle by freeing her soul and destroying the demon world.

Jiro allies with teens descended from ancient tribes destined to aid him: Yusuke Shiratori (Miyuki's brother), Naojiro Oyama (a yakuza heir), Riki Muso (a psychic), Kosaku Kaji, and Yashi Koya. These companions sacrifice themselves battling the cult and oni forces. Key adversaries include cult leader Yonen Majari and his lieutenant Kukai Jawanbo. After resolving the conflict, Goki departs to the past, founding the lineage of Jiro's allies, while Senki and surviving oni relocate to another planet. Jiro returns to the human world, reconciled with his adoptive parents who formally accept him as their son. He maintains his relationship with Miyuki, symbolizing his integration of human and oni identities.
