Description
Jam Ojisan, a skilled baker and inventive mind, gained renown after a fortuitous celestial event—a shooting star colliding with his oven—sparked the accidental creation of Anpanman, the iconic superhero. This pivotal moment led to subsequent culinary-born companions like Melonpanna and Rollpanna, while Currypanman’s origins remain ambiguously documented. Beyond pastries, his ingenuity birthed machinery such as the Anpanman Mobile, and his vast travels in earlier years endowed him with a wealth of knowledge preserved in his extensive library.

Physically mirroring Anpanman yet distinguished by age, he sports gray hair, bushy eyebrows, a mustache, and faintly rosy cheeks and nose. Clad in crisp white chef’s attire with a hat, apron, and blue-gray shoes, his appearance radiates a seasoned craftsmanship. Kind-hearted and nurturing, he embodies selflessness, serving as both mentor and paternal figure to Anpanman, urging him toward justice, while offering gentle guidance to creations like Creampanda and Melonpanna.

His bonds include a non-biological kinship with Batako and devoted care for his dog, Cheese. With Rollpanna, he navigates her dual-hearted essence, balancing guidance with respect for her independence. His mechanical prowess aids allies such as Shokupanman and Currypanman, though their canonical backstories occasionally conflict.

Residing in a humanless world, he is classified as a fairy despite his human-like guise. Early portrayals featured a pipe, later removed. Initially unnamed in the 1973 picture book—referred to only as “uncle”—his identity solidified over time. While unlinked to specific events in *Ningyo Hime no Namida*, his enduring legacy as a creator and moral anchor persists across all narratives.
