Description
Baikinman hatched from an egg arriving from Baikin Planet on the very day Anpanman was born, cementing their eternal rivalry. He dedicates his existence to spreading germs and defeating Anpanman, frequently declaring this his core purpose. His appearance is that of an anthropomorphic fly: a black furry body adorned with a purple nose, lips, gloves, and shoes, pink eyes, fly wings, antennas, a zigzag tail, and a slimy blue tongue. A distinctive purple dot on his chest acts as a microphone amplifying his voice. Mold-like microorganisms coat his entire body, rendering him vulnerable to soap and cleanliness; exposure washes away this coating, shrinking him to reveal an underlying bone-white form, though he typically recovers his mold before permanent harm occurs.

He utilizes a personal UFO for transport and battle, deploying an arsenal of self-designed machines, gadgets, and weapons modeled after his own likeness or signature colors. His personality radiates extreme narcissism, impulsiveness, and grandiosity, referring to himself with the pompous Japanese pronoun "ore-sama." While proclaiming himself devoid of love, he exhibits occasional softer traits, such as unrequited affection for his partner Dokin-chan, for whom he constantly strives to impress despite her preference for Shokupanman. He also shows reluctant paternal care for Franken Robo-kun, a robot he created who views him as a father.

His antagonism towards Anpanman is complex; though dedicated to thwarting him, Baikinman has grudgingly intervened to assist Anpanman in peril. His backstory does not elaborate on his species' motives for targeting Earth coinciding with Anpanman's birth. He inserted the "Baikin Plant" into Rollpanna during her creation, resulting in her dual red (good) and blue (evil) hearts, though she later resisted his control. Newer episodes show him incorporating self-hygiene practices like handwashing. Thematic parallels exist between his microbial nature and bread’s dependence on microorganisms, as noted by the franchise creator. In "Soreike! Anpanman: Kokin-chan to Aoi Namida," Baikinman appears without additional character development or background specific to this short film.
