Description
Syrup is a monster companion hatched from a deep green egg secured by Maple and Sally upon defeating the hidden boss Silverwing in the second in-game event. Emerging as a small turtle, it was named Syrup and gradually evolved through gameplay mechanics and collaborative encounters, expanding in size and tactical utility.
Syrup’s early skills—Bite, Hibernate, and Awaken—laid the groundwork for its role. Maple’s acquisition of Psychokinesis, synergized with Syrup’s Megamorph, unlocked a transformative ability: flight in an enlarged state, positioning Syrup as a mobile platform for transportation and combat. This form introduced long-range strikes via Spirit Cannon, enhancing strategic options.
Guildmate Chrome spearheaded Syrup’s growth through hidden dungeon training, unlocking skills like Cover, Mother Nature, and Thorn Shackles. Mother Nature summoned terrain-altering flora for offense and defense, while Thorn Shackles immobilized foes with paralyzing vines. Petals of Sleep added crowd-control by inducing drowsiness. Subsequent evolutions introduced Red Garden to amplify damage, White Garden to weaken enemy stats, and Sinking Earth to generate destabilizing quicksand.
A pivotal transformation occurred when Maple and Sally accessed a ruined city via a key-item orb. Placing Syrup in a stone watering hole triggered a physical metamorphosis: grass and flowers sprouted beneath its shell, and its patterns shifted subtly. This upgrade bolstered Syrup’s battlefield adaptability, enabling terrain manipulation to trap foes during the eighth event.
Beyond combat, Syrup became an emblem of unity within the Maple Tree guild, forging bonds with companions like Sally’s fox familiar, Oboro. Its logistical and tactical versatility shone in skill combinations, such as merging Rampart with Maple’s Machine God to breach obstacles. Syrup’s dual role as combat ally and guild symbol underscored its integral place in collective strategies and camaraderie.
