OVA
Description
Konoha Haida, who becomes the magical girl Funky Connie, is a student in Sasami's class and a recurring antagonist in the Pretty Sammy franchise, including the Bonus Theatre special. She is defined by a brash, loud, and cruel personality, acting as a bully who frequently targets her classmate Misao Amano out of jealousy over Misao's connection to Hiroto Majima, on whom Konoha has an obsessive crush. Her primary motivation is to win Hiroto's affection, and she uses any means to achieve this, including magic. In the television series, she obtains the lost magical baton and transforms into Funky Connie, but she fails at being a heroic magical girl; her magic instead amplifies her selfishness, as seen when she builds a castle to force Hiroto to love her. The transformation does not inspire genuine growth. In the Bonus Theatre special, Funky Connie collides with the magical girl Love-Me Eimy, and their rivalry distracts from the central plot of Pretty Sammy's murder, leaving tensions unresolved. Konoha's relationships are marked by her antagonism toward Misao, her unrequited pursuit of Hiroto, and her competition with other magical girls. She shows little character development, remaining stubbornly self-centered throughout, though the series hints at a possible relationship with Hiroto near its end. Her notable ability is her magical transformation, but it is used ineffectively for personal gain rather than justice. Konoha serves as a comedic secondary antagonist, her flaws and failures weaving unresolved conflict into the narrative.
