Description
Hiroto Majima is a supporting character who appears in the Magical Project S television series and its accompanying series of short specials, Magical Girl Pretty Sammy Bonus Theatre. As a classmate of main characters Sasami and Misao, he is a recognizable figure at Umi no Hoshi Elementary School.
Hiroto is defined by his strong athletic abilities and his close friendship with Kenji Oyamada, with the two boys often seen together. He is a skilled player in both soccer and dodgeball, and one of the best athletes in his class. This athleticism is accentuated by his most distinctive physical trait: a nasal strip he wears at all times during physical activities. His role within the story's school setting is that of a popular and capable sportsman.
In terms of personality, Hiroto is characterized by a generally amiable but slightly oblivious demeanor, especially regarding the feelings of those around him. His most consistent social dynamic is with his classmate, Konoha Haida, who is the persistent and open target of unrequited affection for him. Hiroto actively and constantly rebuffs Konoha's advances, showing no romantic interest in her and often fighting to keep her at a distance.
Instead, Hiroto harbors a noticeable crush on another classmate, Misao Amano. He shows his gentle side through actions like voluntarily helping Misao practice jumping over a vaulting box after school and deliberately putting himself in harm's way to protect her during a dodgeball game. He is perceptive enough to notice a positive change in Misao's happiness over time, further indicating the depth of his interest in her. However, this crush is not overtly reciprocated, and Misao's own feelings remain ambiguous.
Hiroto's role in the story is primarily that of a supporting school friend, but he also participates in key discoveries and plot points. He and Kenji are the first civilians to discover Pretty Sammy training at their school, and they help spread the word about the magical girl among their classmates. The revelation that Misao is the villainous magical girl Pixy Misa is a significant event for him. Deeply shocked, his immediate and impulsive reaction is to rush home to get money in an attempt to follow Pixy Misa to the moon, demonstrating the depth of his concern for Misao despite her secret identity.
His relationships evolve over the course of the narrative. While he consistently rejects Konoha's advances, her persistence pays off in a way. At one point, Konoha transforms into the magical girl "Funky Connie" and uses her powers to magically compel Hiroto's affection. While under this spell, Hiroto shows romantic feelings for the Connie persona, but he does not recognize Connie as Konoha, reinforcing his lack of natural attraction to her. Ultimately, by the end of the series, a significant development occurs, and it is implied that Hiroto and a non-magical Konoha do begin a relationship, with Kenji even referring to them as "lovebirds".
Regarding notable abilities, his primary talent is his exceptional physical prowess in sports, particularly soccer and dodgeball, where he is considered one of the best in his class. He is confident enough to attempt advanced techniques, such as the "Magic Ball" move, though his attempt is shown to fail spectacularly. In the Magical Girl Pretty Sammy Bonus Theatre specials, his character is adapted into different scenarios. In one short titled Misa Cinderella Story, he is cast as the prince who, despite being saved by Misao, is portrayed as lazy and lives off her hard work.
