TV-Series
Description
Tsumurin is a colorful snail living with Shizuku and her parents, Ametaro and Rainy. He is the only main character in the series not originally a droplet sprite. His appearance features a pale yellow body, reddish-orange-tipped antenna stalks, facial eyes unlike a real snail, and a signature dark blue bowtie. His shell displays a circular pattern of blue, yellow, and pink, which he can detach during activities like napping. Despite lacking sprite abilities, he possesses unexpected physical strength and speed for a snail and often uses his rear foot segment to manipulate objects.
Personality-wise, Tsumurin is humble, honest, and well-intentioned, eager to help Shizuku-Chan but frequently confused by her unconventional behavior. He exhibits a cautious, risk-averse, and somewhat timid disposition. His closest companions are Shizuku (his first friend), Uruoi-Chan, and Mirumiru-Chan, sharing camaraderie despite mutual confusion over the sprites' quirks. He has a younger snail sister named Maimai and an aunt, Hydrangea-san, who is a duck. He develops romantic affections for Koyuki-Chan and later Rosé-Chan.
Tsumurin's background involves complex legal history. He debuted exclusively in the anime, but copyright disputes between Q-LiA and TMS Entertainment/Sega led to his temporary replacement by the near-identical Denden in the *Picchipichi Shizuku-chan* series. This conflict resolved around 2012, enabling Tsumurin's return to official media. He subsequently appeared as a cameo in Volume 16 of the manga and became a main character by Volume 18. In the human-reimagined *NiJiRo Fairy Shizuku-chan* spinoff manga, he wears a uniform with blue nectar and retains tactile sensitivity in his head region.
Narrative events include episodes where his shell goes missing, a journey back to his hometown, and interactions with Koyuki-Chan. He also experiences supernatural encounters, such as being possessed by a devil inhabiting a rabbit doll under a full moon. His evolution reflects the transition from an anime-exclusive figure to an integrated manga character following legal resolutions.
