Alice Gehabich hails from Moscow, Russia, initially living alone in a small house before her grandfather, Dr. Michael Gehabich, took her in. Following his disappearance, she stayed with her aunt and uncle, avoiding the Battle Brawlers. Presuming her parents deceased, her grandfather homeschooled her due to inaccessible local schools. She shares close bonds with fellow Brawlers, especially Runo Misaki, and often worries about Dan Kuso and Shun Kazami.
Introduced as a non-battling strategist, Alice possesses deep knowledge of Bakugan battle techniques but refrains from battling due to self-doubt, fear of loss, and aversion to violence. She provides crucial tactical advice, leveraging her intuitive grasp of abilities and Bakugan matchups to aid the team. Polite and kind, Alice prioritizes others' needs while hiding her own struggles. She demonstrates emotional perceptiveness, detecting Shun's dishonesty, yet can be overly trusting, as when deceived by Lync Volan.
A pivotal revelation exposes Alice as the alter-ego Masquerade, a powerful antagonist serving Naga. This dual identity originated when negative energy from Naga, passing through her grandfather's dimension transporter, unconsciously possessed her and transformed her grandfather into Hal-G. As Masquerade, she wielded Darkus Alpha Hydranoid, ranking as the world's second-highest brawler. After Dan defeats Hal-G, Masquerade's mask dissolves, reverting to a confused Alice. Learning the truth, she blames herself for Masquerade's actions and attempts to leave the team, though the Brawlers reconcile with her. In Vestroia, she transforms into Masquerade one final time to save Dan and Drago, shattering the mask and reclaiming her identity, inheriting Masquerade's Bakugan including Alpha Hydranoid as her official Guardian Bakugan.
Post-redemption, Alice gains confidence to brawl but continues grappling with Masquerade's legacy. She defeats Klaus von Hertzon in a practice match and later teams with Klaus and Christopher to overcome the hybrid brawler Rabeeder using the strategic "Trident of Doom" Ability Card. She participates in the final battle against Naga and Hal-G, suffering injuries protecting Wavern. After the conflict, she bids farewell to Hydranoid as Bakugan return to Vestroia, with Masquerade's silhouette briefly appearing in her shadow.
In New Vestroia, Alice assumes a diminished role. Her Alpha Hydranoid is depetrified but held in a bronze statue state within Prince Hydron's collection. She assists from Earth, coordinating with Runo and Julie to test dimension transporters and facilitating Spectra Phantom and Gus Grav's journey to New Vestroia. She shelters Lync Volan despite his deceitful nature and later receives a Darkus Gauntlet from Mira Fermin. Her sole depicted battle is against Shadow Prove, where she resists Masquerade's psychological taunts to retransform, reflecting her ongoing internal conflict. Post–New Vestroia, her appearances are limited to cameos, such as a photograph in Mechtanium Surge.
