Description
Naga, born Gracia Ul Naga Saillune, is the first daughter of Crown Prince Philionel El Di Saillune of the Holy Kingdom of Saillune and the older sister of Amelia Wil Tesla Saillune. In her youth, she witnessed her mother's murder at the hands of an assassin named Booley. Using a spell called Chaos String, which she learned from her mother, she killed the assassin. After her mother’s funeral, she discovered a distinctive black leather outfit in her mother’s closet and adopted it as her own. She then left home, abandoning her birth name to travel the world under the alias Naga the Serpent. She maintains occasional contact with her family and receives financial support from them.

Her departure was driven by a quest for greater magical power and experience, motivated by the trauma of her mother’s death and a sense of responsibility for the event. This trauma also resulted in a pronounced aversion to the sight of blood, which can cause her to faint. Although she keeps her royal heritage secret, her mannerisms often reflect her noble upbringing; she displays confidence and speaks as an equal to other royalty.

A highly skilled sorceress, she specializes in shamanistic magic, particularly spells related to earth, water, and ice, such as Freeze Arrow. She is proficient in white magic, including healing and protection spells, and possesses some knowledge of black magic. Her potential magical capacity is larger than Lina Inverse's, though Lina knows more ultimate black magic spells. She has created original spells, including Bogardic Elm, Freeze Rain, Gu Ru Dooga, Mega Vu Vraimer, Void Breath, and Vu Raywa, and is capable of casting high-level spells like Ra Tilt and Resurrection. She enjoys creating golems, though they often malfunction or turn against her. Despite carrying a large sword, she never uses it offensively due to her hemophobia.

Her personality is marked by arrogance, vanity, and a notable lack of common sense. She is prone to excessive drinking and displays significant greed for money and magical treasure. She is known for an obnoxiously loud and distinctive laugh, which she is proud of and believes has a debilitating effect on others. She frequently boasts about her voluptuous physique and taunts others about their physical appearance, particularly targeting Lina Inverse's smaller bust size, a behavior stemming from her own insecurities and competitive nature.

Her relationship with Lina Inverse is complex and defines many of her actions. She first sought out Lina to challenge her and claim the self-proclaimed title of "Invincible Dark Lord." After an initial defeat, she developed an obsessive rivalry, frequently traveling with Lina as both a partner and an antagonist, often switching sides if offered personal gain. Their dynamic is combative yet cooperative; Lina often subjects her to abusive treatment, such as using her as a meat shield or catching her in the blast radius of destructive spells, which she consistently survives unscathed due to her extreme durability. Despite the friction, they have saved each other's lives on multiple occasions.

In the narrative of "The Book of Spells," she appears alongside Lina Inverse in three episodic adventures. In one story, a magician creates multiple clones of her, which she ultimately joins to form a choir using her laughter as a weapon. In another, she and Lina are hired by an overprotective mother to help her son achieve knighthood. A third story involves a magic mirror that creates duplicates with opposite personalities, resulting in a modest and whiny version of herself.

Beyond these appearances, her story continues in other media. In "Slayers Evolution-R," a suit of living armor named Nama appears, strongly hinted to be her soul trapped without most of her memories. This character shares her laugh, mannerisms, proficiency in ice magic, and personal history, including a mother who died young and a violent reaction to assassins. She also appears in various films and original video animations, often engaging in adventures centered on obtaining treasure or food, and displaying her characteristic greed and appetite.

Her familial relationship with her sister, Amelia, is a noted aspect of her background, though they rarely interact directly in most media. When they do, her true identity remains concealed from Amelia. In one radio drama, she interacts with Amelia while wearing a mask and identifies herself only as a friend of Lina's.

By the canonical conclusion of the franchise, she is depicted in an audio drama as elderly, in her eighties, still interacting and quarreling with an equally aged Lina Inverse, suggesting a long-lasting, if contentious, connection that endures throughout their lives.
