Description
Shirin stands as the sole surviving female member of the Oni Clan. Her existence revolves around an intense, unquestioning loyalty to the clan leader Akuram, fueling her every action. This devotion occasionally twists into jealousy, particularly toward Akane, triggered by Akuram's strategic focus on the Priestess of the Dragon God.
She wields roses as weapons, manipulating vines and thorns to ensnare or attack foes. As a shirabyoshi dancer, she employs seduction to influence men, a core tactic in her clan duties. This approach falters against Fujiwara no Takamichi, who wounds her in combat and later bandages her injury—a moment of unexpected kindness that briefly stirs conflict within her.
Her narrative diverges across adaptations. In the anime, Shirin's jealousy drives her to independently attack Akane, defying Akuram and resulting in her expulsion from the clan. She ultimately sacrifices her life to save Akane, seeking reunion with Akuram in death. The manga charts a different course: after Akuram abandons the injured half-oni Sefuru, Shirin defects alongside Ikutidaru. They ally with Akane and Yorihisa to break a curse, motivated by Sefuru's plight and Akuram's betrayal, ensuring Shirin's survival and ongoing role.
Though her origins remain undisclosed, her story persistently explores loyalty, rejection, and the clash between her demonic heritage and fleeting empathy. She does not feature centrally in sequels or spin-offs beyond minor references.
