Description
Meisuke Nueno, known as Nube, teaches class 5-3 at Doumori Elementary. Born with innate spiritual abilities, childhood possessions by evil spirits led to severe bullying. His mother's illness and death, followed by his father Jiku's abandonment after neighbors refused financial help, deeply marked him. His elementary teacher Minako protected him, sacrificing her life to exorcise a powerful snake spirit possessing him; this forged his dual path as educator and exorcist.

He possesses short black hair, thick eyebrows, and red eyes, usually dressed in a black suit and white shirt. His left hand remains concealed by a black glove, hiding the grotesque, clawed "Oni no Te" (Demon's Hand). This fusion resulted from sealing the demon Bakki after a battle and contains traces of Minako's soul, which sometimes aids him during spiritual crises.

His personality balances lightheartedness against gravitas. Outside supernatural threats, he displays comedic tendencies, suffering chronic financial mismanagement from gambling (pachinko), buying student meals, and funding spirit offerings. He pursues romantic interests, initially targeting colleague Ritsuko Takahashi, though occult discussions repel her. During supernatural threats, he prioritizes student safety above all, adopting a self-sacrificial mindset. He refuses payment for exorcisms, perpetuating his poverty.

Abilities include standard exorcist tools: sutras (e.g., Sutra Book of the White-Robed Goddess), prayer beads, and a crystal ball revealing spirits. The Oni no Te is his primary weapon, channeling Bakki's power for combat, communication with yokai, and spirit liberation. Control is partial due to Bakki's volatility; overuse risks physical and spiritual backlash. He later masters techniques like "Youshin no jutsu" (spiritual projection during sleep) and creates a kudagitsune (fox spirit) using a borrowed entity from ally Izuna Hazuki.

After Bakki departs for hell, he loses the Oni no Te. Training under the mountain yokai Daitengu in *Jigoku Sensei Nube Neo* restores it as "Oni no Te Neo," a spiritual-energy blaster exhausting his stamina upon use. Twelve years post-original series, he returns to Doumori Elementary from Kyushu to address renewed supernatural threats.

Key relationships define his journey. He mentors students like Hiroshi Tateno (saved from possession and a fox spirit's curse) and Kyoko Inaba (a childhood neighbor). Allies include Yukime, a Yuki-onna he rescued from hunters; their initial age-gap reluctance evolves into marriage. Former antagonist Kyosuke Tamamo, a fox spirit seeking Hiroshi's skull, becomes a protector of Doumori. In *Reibaishi Izuna: Ascension*, an alternate timeline depicts his death against Byakko while shielding students and Izuna, though timeline alterations prevent this outcome. Later, he resides in Kyushu with Yukime, briefly returning to Tokyo for exorcism cases.
