Taro Soramame is a resident of Penguin Village and a key supporting character. He is the older brother of Peasuke Soramame and the son of barber Kurikinton Soramame. Introduced as a teenage hoodlum during school, he cultivates his "bad boy" persona by constantly wearing sunglasses and smoking cigarettes, a habit started at age five. Despite his rebellious look, complete with a 1950s greaser-style pompadour, his true nature is fundamentally harmless, non-bullying, laid-back, and easygoing. He shares a caring and supportive bond with his younger brother Peasuke, frequently helping him in difficult situations and offering guidance when asked, though he sometimes shows annoyance. Academically, he serves as the school baseball team captain. He recruits Arale Norimaki after witnessing her immense strength during their first meeting, where his attempt to intimidate her failed spectacularly when she effortlessly broke a tree, earning his respect. Romantically, Taro falls for Tsururin Tsun after she arrives in Penguin Village. Their relationship develops over time, culminating in marriage. After high school, he becomes a police officer, motivated largely by the chance to carry a firearm and keep wearing sunglasses professionally—a career choice creating irony given his earlier delinquent reputation. Beyond the main series, he appears in the film *Dr. Slump: Arale's Surprise*, joining Arale and friends on an adventure to Wonder Island to confront pirates who stole a powerful stone. He also crosses over into the *Dragon Ball* universe during the Red Ribbon Army Saga as a police officer. There, he attempts to apprehend General Blue with colleagues Pagos and Gala but fails due to Blue's superior strength. Later, he participates in a bungled police operation that accidentally shoots down King Nikochan's spaceship. His life extends into the *Dragon Ball Super* era, where he is seen socializing at the Coffee Pot café with Peasuke when Arale visits briefly. Future projections show him living with Tsururin at Anguirus Apartments past age 75. His character design was altered in the 1997 *Dr. Slump* remake, replacing the original greaser aesthetic with blonde spiked hair and a less delinquent demeanor. Further media appearances include a cameo in *Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission* during a tournament and a live-action commercial for the clothing retailer G.U., where he stands alongside Peasuke observing Arale.
