TV-Series
Description
Super Devil rules as the supreme sovereign of Tenmakai, also called the Demon World or Mashō Ankoku Zone. He governs all demonic realms by enforcing the Black Kairitsu, a binding demonic law. In a grand deception, Super Devil disguised himself as a holy god and infiltrated Tenseikai, the angelic realm. There, he orchestrated discord, manipulating events to create conflict between Shaman Khan and his rival Super Zeus. This subterfuge involved secret meetings with Khan, fueling destructive rumors and igniting prolonged strife between the factions.
After defeat in the original conflict, Super Devil resurfaced transformed as Rootless Devil. His most significant evolution occurred when he absorbed Super Zeus's powers following their battle, becoming Devil Zeus. This transformation granted immense power but carried a complication: Super Zeus's consciousness persisted as a disruptive presence within his body. This residual force caused internal conflict, manifesting as physical discomfort or verbal interference during Devil Zeus's actions. Despite this, Super Devil maintained dominance over the combined form and continued leading the Akuma forces, marking a permanent shift in his capabilities and role.
Throughout animated series, Super Devil functions as the primary antagonist directing efforts to conquer Tenseikai. His leadership position within the Akuma faction remains consistent, portraying him as a persistent threat. Across narratives spanning different timelines, he engages in strategic battles against angelic protectors, particularly those involving Super Zeus and his allies. His return in evolved forms like Devil Zeus demonstrates his capacity for resurgence following defeats.
The character appears in various adaptations beyond animation. In video games like *Bikkuriman World*, Super Devil serves as an optional boss character and later a standard enemy. He also appears in *Puzzle & Dragons* as Super Hades, representing a fusion with the underworld deity; his evolved form there is titled Super Meikai Hades. Additionally, Devil Zeus appears as a playable character in *Super Bikkuriman* games, expanding his presence into interactive media.
His design and narrative significance make him a recurring figure in merchandise. This includes vintage glow-in-the-dark figures from 1987 and contemporary apparel collaborations featuring his likeness, reflecting his enduring recognition within the franchise's material offerings.
