Description
Created by inventor Senbei Norimaki in Penguin Village, Arale Norimaki is an android designed to resemble a young girl. Despite her small stature, she possesses superhuman strength and speed, counterbalanced only by severe nearsightedness requiring corrective glasses. Senbei initially presents her as his younger sister or daughter, though her displays of power and occasional removal of her own head challenge this human facade.

Arale combines high intelligence with childlike naivete and curiosity. She effortlessly solves complex mathematical equations yet fundamentally misunderstands human conventions. Her eclectic interests span Japanese superhero shows, giant monster films, and an irresistible urge to poke feces with sticks. She greets others with "N'cha," bids farewell with "Bye'cha," expresses bewilderment via "Hoyoyo," and emits a "Kiiin" sound while running with arms outstretched. Despite occasional destructive capabilities, her kindness in protecting family, friends, and animals reflects a pure heart confirmed by her ability to ride the Kinto'un cloud.

Key events shape her journey: Shortly after activation, she enrolls in Penguin Village Middle School, befriending rebellious Akane Kimidori and delinquent Taro Soramame. A time-travel expedition with Senbei and Peasuke Soramame leads her to acquire a mysterious egg that hatches into Gatchan—a winged, metal-eating creature becoming her companion. Gatchan later splits into two entities and is revealed as an angel sent to monitor humanity. Arale confronts antagonists like Dr. Mashirito, who creates the Caramel Man robot series to defeat her, though model 004 develops romantic feelings instead. She temporarily dies during one confrontation before being revived. Her family expands when Senbei marries teacher Midori Yamabuki, resulting in their superpowered son Turbo. In her future, she marries Obotchaman.

She appears in crossovers within the Dragon Ball universe, notably defeating General Blue with minimal effort during Goku's pursuit. Her abilities include the terrain-splitting "Chikyūwari" (Earth Chop) and energy-based "N'chahō" (N'cha Cannon). Visually, her design evolves across the series, becoming shorter and more youthful-looking over time—later retconned as utilizing multiple interchangeable bodies. Her hair is typically purple, though depicted as brown in the 1997 anime adaptation.
