Shokupanman is a major hero in the Anpanman universe. Visually distinct, his head is made of shokupan, Japanese white bread. He wears a white outfit with a cape, red gloves, a red belt, red shoes, and bears an "S" insignia on his chest. His design features eyes and eyebrows like Anpanman, small circular cheeks, and a wedge-like nose.

Characterized as gentle, cool, level-headed, and kind, he acts as the thoughtful core member of the heroic trio with Anpanman and Currypanman, though he also displays notable narcissism. He often greets new acquaintances by taking their hand and dancing. His primary role is delivering white bread for school lunches using his specialized vehicle, the multi-functional Shokupanman-go, which serves for both transport and combat support. He sometimes collaborates with Currypanman, who provides accompanying curry.

In combat, Shokupanman employs signature attacks called Shoku-Punch and Shoku-Kick, similar to Anpanman's techniques. He also participates in coordinated group attacks like the Double-Punch (with Anpanman or Currypanman) and the Special Triple-Punch (with both). His delivery truck enhances his operational effectiveness.

He shares a recurring dynamic with Dokin-chan, a germ-themed antagonist who holds a persistent romantic interest in him, adding complexity to their opposing interactions. Shokupanman resides under the care of Uncle Jam and Batako-san at their bakery, alongside others like the dog Cheese.
