Shokupanman stands as a major hero in the Anpanman universe, consistently portrayed alongside Anpanman and Currypanman as a primary protector. His head consists of *shokupan*, Japanese-style white bread, complemented by a white outfit, red gloves, a red belt, red shoes, and a flowing cape. An "S" emblem adorns his chest, signifying his name.

Generally level-headed and kind, Shokupanman also exhibits moments of silliness and a noted streak of narcissism. He frequently greets newcomers by taking their hands for an impromptu dance, showcasing his sociable nature. His core mission involves delivering white bread for school lunches, often partnering with Currypanman who supplies curry or wasabi. He pilots a specialized white truck, the Shokupanman-go or Shokupanmanmobile, for transport and combat.

In battle, Shokupanman utilizes techniques mirroring Anpanman's, including the "Shoku-punch" and "Shoku-kick." He also performs coordinated group attacks: the "Double-Punch" with either Anpanman or Currypanman, and the "Special Triple-Punch" with both. His flight capability depends entirely on his cape; damage to it renders him earthbound.

Relationships define much of his story. He shares a close bond with Anpanman and Currypanman, collectively regarded as brothers. Dokinchan, a germ character, maintains a persistent, largely unreciprocated romantic interest in him. His familial ties extend to Pumpkinpanna (older sister), Currypanman (younger brother), and Melonpanna, Rollpanna, and Creampanda (younger siblings).

Shokupanman features in musical pieces like his solo song "Well-Known White Bread Man" (おなじみしょくぱんまん) and the group anthem "We are Heroes" with Anpanman and Currypanman.
