Description
Rollpanna recurs throughout the Anpanman franchise, featuring prominently in the 2018 film *Soreike! Anpanman: Kagayake! Kurun to Inochi no Hoshi* alongside established characters, with consistent background and traits across media.
Crafted by Uncle Jam as Melonpanna’s companion, her creation took a dark turn when Baikinman contaminated her with Bacteria Grass. This taint birthed two warring hearts within her: a red heart embodying justice and goodness, awakened by Melonpanna’s presence, and a blue heart surging with evil, triggered by sightings of Anpanman or his name. To shield others from unintended harm, she isolates herself, emerging only when Melonpanna cries for aid or when Baikinman forcibly incites her malevolent heart.
Her striking appearance includes a white turban-like head wrap marked by a red "R," a cyan cape, and predominantly black attire accented by white gloves, belt, and shoes. Twin hearts on her chest manifest her duality, the red one pulsing with light during moments of warmth. When the blue heart dominates or Bacteria Grass overwhelms her, she shifts into Black Rollpanna. This form darkens her head wrap to grayish-black, turns gloves and shoes black, replaces blue eyes with glowing red, and ignites the blue heart. Her demeanor turns fiercely aggressive, singularly fixated on destroying Anpanman. Extreme scenarios—like scientific tampering or intense Bacteria Grass exposure—can fracture her personas entirely or permanently consume her red heart, spawning forms like Complete Black Rollpanna: a destructive entity stripped of all virtuous memories.
She wields a gymnastics ribbon to ensnare foes or conjure tornadoes. As Black Rollpanna, the ribbon electrocutes adversaries or petrifies them. Her flight surpasses other characters in speed, and she detects Melonpanna’s pleas across any expanse.
Her relationships are intrinsically tied to her condition. Rollpanna cherishes Melonpanna as a younger sister, guarding her protectively. Anpanman remains an accidental enemy due to her blue heart’s reaction, though she respects him, and he steadfastly considers her an ally. She maintains cautious bonds with Currypanman and Shokupanman, who comprehend her fractured nature and absolve her of actions under Baikinman’s sway. Baikinman, both creator and nemesis, exploits her evil state—a manipulation she bitterly resents.
Rollpanna moves through life quietly and reservedly, shielding her emotions behind walls of solitude to avert collateral damage. Her narrative echoes themes of inner turmoil and unintended fallout, her deeds often puppeteered by external forces rather than malice.
